Oh My God....I cannot even imagine. Thank God your wife is OK!!! I've had bruised ribs before, she's going to need some help for a few weeks but thankfully they heal up good without after-effects like something breaking.
That's heartbreaking.
If it were me, I would definitely buy it back and find a damn good frame repair center. You never know....some of the stuff I've seen put back in the road is amazing.

I have a friend who has an Acura dealership in Westchester Co NY and he told my wife to bring it around and he will fix it. The same guy who worked with my wife to paint it for my 50th birthday present.
But it is really bad. Really bad.

The ONLY time she let me down. On the way to a family reunion in Texas. She only made it to W Virginia before the left cam nose snapped off.
Not bad for 25 years!
Longer than I've known my wife.

Leave him guessing, for as long as you can.
Dan, we're really sorry to read this, and hope that your wife is really OK-- that's a hard hit. Some says "its only a car", but we know quite well how attached we get to these things.
Best of luck however it turns out!

so sorry for your loss.
I hope your wife has a speedy recovery with no permanent issues.
That was a nice machine and it has lots of good parts so others will live.

Yes, have your body shop guy have a good look. From here it looks fixable but what do I know. Good to have choices: Buy the wrecked car back from the ins co. for cheap and swap over to another OB that needs an interior, motor, etc. (that's what I did.) Or make it easy on yourself and start looking for another OB in good condtion and move on. I have a hatch (no glass) from an 80 you can have for free if car can be fixed. Are you in CT (sig) or TX (tag) ? Your wife went backwards in an uncontollable car and was slightly injured and I'm sure scared-that would be my first concern-by far. Car can easily be replaced. Keep us posted and good luck with it all. T

Good joint project for your and the boy - buy a good body, get it painted and move everything over. After a year of work, both of you might be able to forgive him...

Similar incident years ago happened to me with an '87 BMW 325, that I loved dearly. Left front bashed in. I loved it enough to spend the money to fix it. Probably not a good economic decision but I loved the car.

I'm glad all is OK and no one is hurt badly. All I can say; there is a reason all this stuff happens... For example, tomorrow you may have got mashed between 2 big rigs, or T-boned by an Armored Brinks truck. But, now you won't. Sometimes you have to look at things from an odd perspective to realize where you are today is actually a good place
If the frame can't be fixed, I hope you can find a solid body donor and transplant this car's heart and soul into it. Best of luck!
Jase.
