FS: K&N 33-2591 air filter
Hello Gentlemen,
I am selling the used K&N air filter that I took off the Red Witch, my 1986.5 928S. I have installed a new Mahle LX-311 stock air filter, and don't need this K&N.
This filter is K&N part number 33-2591. To my knowledge, it fits all 1978-95 Porsche 928's. However, take that with a grain of salt. Do your own research to make sure this part is what you need.
This filter is used, and in the neighborhood of 10 years old. Maybe a little more. I am searching through the receipts from the PO, but haven't found anything on this filter. It is in excellent condition. There is no damage to the mesh, the cotton, or the pleat assemblies. I stand corrected, two of the pleats near one edge look slightly deformed. Like someone used a little too much finger pressure. There is no deterioration in the urethane material. The filter does not seem to have been over oiled. There was no oil residue in the lower airbox, or on the MAF inlet screen.
I don't see anything wrong with the filter, I just don't want it. I would strongly suggest the next owner clean and reoil this filter. Note the bugs in the media...
$30 takes it. I will be at SITM this year and can deliver it. Or, shipping is not a problem.
I will let the photos speak for themselves:
Any questions, feel free to ask!
Thanks!

I am. That's why I took it out.
I had thought that the oiling of the filter was a non-issue for the CIS engines.
Does not hurt my feelings if nobody wants it. Just wanted to put the offer out.

toss it, friends dont sell KnN filters to friends.
I can tell how many I have scrapped,
its amazing how much dirt gets by the edges.
You will never notice any performance gain with this filter VS a fresh stock filter

Best place for it.
K&N have their place (as do any oiled foam filter). There are applications where they are a good choice.
The 928 is not one of them.

Good Job. I had one of these in my S4 when I first bought it. I tossed it.

Exhibit 1 for why Rennlist is such a great place for Porsche OWNERS.
You aren't getting spammed by businesses or non-owners that don't have the ownership experience in keeping them running, but instead getting good advice from fellow owners that keep 30 yr old classic cars running...the business owners here are fellow 928 OWNERS that have a vested interest in giving good advice that they use on THEIR OWN cars.

That's a funny picture, the thing actually in the garbage. Makes me want to throw together a little advertising for K&N and stick it up on Facebook or something. "The many uses for the K&N air filter..."
