Default S4 AC head dead??

AC switch light comes on, it gets a little warm not hot..just warm after a while.

No 12v at freeze switch or safety switch.

It does sound like the compressor relay has failed in the HVAC controller. I was fortunate that there was a drop in replacement for the relay in my 91 S4. I can't remember whether same true for your MY87, if not there is room to wire in an outboard dpst relay

Sounds as though the relay has failed- that or something in the box of tricks.

Mine has a mind of its own at the moment working one minute and not the next- seems the arrival of the hot weather system here has sent it loopy again after working well over the cooler season. About to try the external relay route tomorrow all being well.

Have you seen Dwayne's write up about what he did?

Rgds

If you press the AC button and the compressor doesn't engage then it is most likely the relay.

I recommend getting a rebuilt one from Mark or Roger as per usual and adding an inline relay.
