Yes. I'm fairly certain your math will be.....your math.
My point was that the Euros on CL that you are talking about were $2000 cars two years ago. Now they are $6,000 cars. The market has already doubled....
If I told you, last year, that I was going to sell a 1986 928 for 52K, you would have thought I was crazy....yet one just did. Is that price double what it would have been 2 years ago?
Absolutely!
Im thinking that perhaps you should sell everything 928 now, before the price drops even more....

There is math and then there is PORSCHE math !! new 911 cabriolet sells for $100,000 an 8 year old 911 is 30,000-50,000. Porsche finds about 11,000 people in the United States who see that as a "good deal" a YEAR !!! So making money on Porsches is NOT what drives the decision about what someone wants to own, drive, be seen in....If you like 928s and have the money some will opt to spend it to drive what they WANT ! And it helps to keep in mind that the average new car is now about $33,000 and in 8 years is worth maybe $5,000 that is the new NORMAL and if financed can cost more like $45,000. Most people most of the time do not make money on cars.
When the CEO of AARP makes over two million per year you can figure she drives what ever she wants ...... There are a lot of very highly compensated people today. A $100,000 car is not all that unusual. You can drop $75,000 - 85,000 on a Tesla in a flash.....with no idea what it will be worth in 8 years

Bottom line to me as a newbie to 928s. Is an '83 Euro S that runs great and shifts nicely, including an original radio/wheels, and has Greg Brown's support for ownership worth it at $15k? Not sure, but Greg did point out that 15k is a soft target and guy is willing to listen/negotiate.
I think it is nice for Greg to point out certain deals to be had and I don't think he would put his reputation behind a car just because it came through his shop.
Rennlisters come first for a chance to buy it is how I interpet this thread.

Hey, I went the extra mile. I ponied up $5k when my usual price is $2-3k-ish. I thought it was a generous deal but no - all I got was shilt on, and denigrated. So - I withdraw my generous $5k offer. So there.

Time to buy a cheap Euro was maybe 5 years ago. Makes me think twice about sending my 84 Euro with Calif BAR sticker chassis off to scrap when the last few parts are off of it.
Smog history is perfect on this car, no fails and every two years right on time, a driven car.
