Gonna make more HP with your help
Since I can't see to get a EURO motor from Ebay I will have to find a way to make more HP with what I got.
78 US 5 speed. Nearly stock 4.5L EURO intake, No cat, Borla, K&N, No Smog pump.
What do ya'll think about a set of 944 heads? Headers, bigger throttle body.
Can I Stroke it? with a DEVEK kit.
Will my square tooth cam sprockets fit 944 cams. If not, I will need to convert to round tooth belt. need to reseal front of motor anyway.

Sell it, buy an s4, and that will probably be fast enough for you for a while.
It will cost you a few thousand to upgrade, but you will spend at least that
much doing all those complex upgrades. The s4 has a lot more ways to
go fast, if you decide it is not fast enough later on...
Unless it is a CIS car, and you can supercharge it, there are not many
ways to make cheap power on a US s2.
How about nitrous?

You sound like a do it yourselfer.
Maybe talk to Quick Carl about advice for a supercharger?
If I was you? I'd think about building my own supercharger for the car. The plumbing might get intersting, but should be realy quick. If you throw an intercooler at it, 350 hp is deffently with in your grasp.
If I was you, I'd be takeing a really close look at a way to make it a draw through supercharger with an intercooler, 10 psi should easily be avalible with your low 8.5:1 compression ratio and 93 octane fuel. If you blow the engine up, pick up another used one for 2k, and have more fun.
No?

I watched an complete 85' Euro motor end without a bid on Ebay last week. It had a $1750 starting price with no reserve. I think it was still in the car and you could hear it run, something about a rearend collision. That seems like a reasonable price range for 90 hp. Although, I would assume the cost could get up in the $4000 range to put this in an older car.
Just a thought, because it might get relisted.

Well definately a NOOB to Ebay.
Did not see a 85 EURO motor. I looked through the entire list what would the search be.
I am a do it myselfer which sometimes is dangerous.
I disagree about an S4 because I don't plan on stock to include looks sound, different seats, wheels, and lighten up the car significantly...

Joe,
I found it under parts and acces. for cars and trucks and just did a search for Porsche 928. If I happen to see it relisted I wil post it for ya. By the way where is Gauier, MS? Just curious, cause I am originally from Biloxi.

Hey Joe,
I just looked at the "How much would a rebuilt engine sell for" thread and noticed that Mark from P'Cola sanged that Euro motor. He can sure find the deals.

Yup I caught that too. Either way I go I will spend lots of money. Don't know why my emails haven't been answered to one of the big three. Must be there bussiness is so good they don't need mine. Or they get posers all the time and are sick of it.

Joe,
I highly recommend you to make a call to any of the Big 3 as I have found that with the limited staffs, you are able to get a much faster response to a call than an email. I don't think I have ever recieved as much help from any other parts houses as those of the Big 3. Its not to often you call to order a $300 part and they talk you out of it and advise to check a few more things before making the purchase. (Thanks Dave R.)

I think an '80-83 CIS Euro S engine would be the quickest and possibly the cheapest way to gain more HP, plus it's a drop-in replacement.
How about just a US 4.7 bottom (or whole engine w/your CIS)? Gregg K has this setup; you might poll him on how much was changed and the resuling power increase.
The info I have local says that the '78-9 Euro engines had the same 8.5:1 CR as the US versions, There are 10:1 pistons out there, but that's probably a small gain for alot of work and $$; I've got a set of these but when/if I ever plunge I think I'll go turbo on the 8.5s.
Have you had your car dynoed? The was a thread on the mailing list about gaining a noticable amount of power from some other than spec tuning; I have roughly the same setup as you on my '79 US and managed 205 RWHP as a baseline and feel there's a few more ponies to be had with a little more tinkering.
I know that's not a spectacular number, but, in comparing to some other dyno #s I've seen, there's more than a couple 4.5 and 4.7s out there not making that much, which means there's some HP being left on the table.

Jim V totally agree with you on easy Euro engine swap. This is what I am still seeking. But keeping my options open.
Haven't found a place to dyno my car most garages don't even have gas analyzers (sp) I have managed to tweek with an AIR/ Fuel Ratio meter. CIS is not very accurate in my opinion. However very robust and able to dump lots of gas if required.
This topic has evolved in my little brain as a result of: repaint car, redo interior..... reseal motor, will need clutch. shoot while I'm in there I might as well go big and spend the money once. I plan on pulling the motor anyway.
