Default Favorite Driving Song for each Model Year

Just curious to know everyone's favorite driving song for their model year car.

Since mine's an 84, I love listening to songs from 1984.

My favorite has to be...

Van Halen's "Panama" from their 1984 album of the same name.

followed by Devo's "Here to GO!" from their album that year.
(I know it's weird, but had a great experience listening to it over and over blasting through the Arizona and New Mexico deserts on the 1,500 mile trip home to Dallas from the purchase in LA).

I wanted to judge for myself if the claim it was the ultimate continental grand touring car was true...

The gossips were right...

The cross country road trip was an awesome way to bond with my new car.

If you can...I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Of course I had to stop so I could be "standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona"

Great choice Dan!

Some other great choices for 81 are:

There's Only One Way to Rock- Sammy Hagar
I'd Fall in Love Again- Sammy Hagar
Give It to Me Baby- Rick James (got to love the opening)

these 3 are all in my Fast Driving playlist (about 100 songs worth).

I might be adding Red Barchetta...

Thanks for sharing.

Great choice

I loved the line that went like...

"You can hedge your bet on a clean Corvette to get you there right on time"

Used to listen to that song all the time when I had my Vette...

Love the way Felder makes the guitar wail in that song.
(Don Felder, is one great musician as well as being the other half of one of the all time artistic partnerships- Steely Dan)

And my car is an 87 and is white.

Top 25 Most Played songs on my iPod
1) Run Like Hell- Pink Floyd
...
3) Young Lust- Pink Floyd
4) Another Brick in the Wall (pt 2)- Pink Floyd

3 of my 4 favorite songs are from Pink Floyd

------------------------------

Always loved Floyd's music since Waters was forever broken by his father's death in WW2 when he was a little boy and the disintegration into madness of his friend Syd Barrett

Legend has it Waters had tears running down his cheeks as he was singing "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" looking right at a bald, totally shaved, insane Syd as they were recording the track...

-----------------------------------------

And the most cynical, biting lyrics of all time...

"I've ALWAYS had the deepest respect
I mean that most sincerely!
The band is just fantastic
That is really what I think

Oh by the way
Which one's Pink?"

(from "Have a Cigar" from the Wish You Were Here LP)

I also love driving to "the pros and cons of hitchhiking". With Waters writing/vocals and Clapton on guitar it's a pretty sharp/punchy album. Great for night drives by yourself.
