He had it up on eBay last week with a BIN price of $39,995. It didn't sell but got 59 bids up to ~$34K.

being that I am in the market for a GTS and to the avid 928 aficionados, at relatively equal option level, which would be a better buy?
this one, 1993, AT black on black/75k miles with most typically problematic parts changed, some maintenance records but not extensive @ 38k?
or a 1993, AT silver on black/55k miles, dealer maintained full documentation @ 50k?
both clean carfax the black one being, say a 8/10 vs a 9/10 for the silver one
thank you for the fellow members input

Seems like the black subject car is the better deal. $12K is a lot for having full records. Some records are good, as is a good ppi. If it passes, the black is the better buy at the price point imho.

That being said, I think the best you can hope for with a dealer maintained car is that any maintenance was done correctly.
Since even the newest 928 is over 20 years old, the number of technicians at any dealer that was trained to work on the 928 is minimal at best.
I would also say that things that are WYAIT are not typically done at the dealer since the dealer gets paid each time something is done to the car. In the instance of my car, the coolant reservoir had been replaced, but the hoses underneath that coolant reservoir were not replaced at the same time and began to leak. You or I working on our own cars would have replaced those hoses while the reservoir was being replaced.
As another for instance, the PO of my GTS took the car to the dealer complaining of a shudder in the front end. Almost every piece of metal suspension including the sway bar was replaced in the front end by the dealer, but amazingly, when I got the car, it still had the original shocks.

I bought a dealer maintained GTS. No expense spared by the PO and always maintained by the same dealer.
