Default Coming to Grips?

Me and my Car were in a local charity car show this weekend here in Gainesville, FL.

I was sandwiched between a 2016 911 Carrera Turbo and a 2016 Porsche Cayman.

It occurred to me that my 91' S4 was now 25 years old!

There will be no "Antique" licence plate for my car at 25 years old and no AARP Card for me at 55 years old.

NEITHER OF US ARE READY !!!!!

I got a "classic" plate for one of my cars as it's cheaper and then the state (MN) only requires the rear plate.

I'm not joining AARP either. I'm going to have my wife join for the discounts.

I got antique plates for my 928s4, as it's MUCH cheaper, and since I only drive the car on occasion, it helps defray costs of ownership of this, and other vehicles I own.

In fact, I did the math, and in a little over 1.5 years, I can get those plates for a 1993 car I own. Tags cost me $54/yr now. But with antique plates, it's $50/life.
Multiply times the number of vehicles... and it saves me a few hundred bucks/yr.

Why the German front plates?

I do wish they (DMV) would limit the plates to more of the historic type of vehicles. Very week, I see a POS like a clapped-out 1989 camry w antique plates. Sure, it's 25+ yrs old, but really?

Best way to go here in VA if you don't mind the "restrictions". They're not much different from a regular registration cost-wise, permanent (i.e. no renewal) and the annual state inspection requirement goes away.

OK- maybe all of you guys have a point- I didn't realize they were that much cheaper.

A lot of younger folk think the car is much more contemporary and really have no idea -which is fun.

As for the German front plate- had a couple of holes up there I wanted to cover up and thought it looked better than a "FL Gator plate" or "Joe's Road racing" or whatever
