Sometimes the stars align... the 2016 Werks Reunion is featuring water-cooled cars https://www.pca.org/event/2016-02-19/werks-reunion-2016. I am thrilled to have the 928S there!

@Bill Ball - I wish I could enjoy all the wonderful West Coast events! Regrettably I am in Florida. It's kind-of car country here, but nothing like NorCal or SoCal. The 928 will be getting its correctly-anodized wheels and having odds and ends cared for with BC/Precision for now. But I do look forward to meeting you and many other Bay Area 928 owners at Werks.

Thank you again for the open invitation! This is a great, inclusive forum.

It appears the car has changed hands again:

Seems like there was more opportunity there.

Bump stop. With buyer's premium, close to the purchase price from BaT. Still, good to see the cream of the crop auction houses starting to entertain 928s. The Gooding 80 sold for $27.5 (auto, fair amount of miles)

Still a great car and in my opinion will go down in 928 history as the car that kicked off the flurry of 928 auctions and sales all over the country.

Surprised about the $27,500 from Gooding on a plain vanilla '80 auto with fairly high mileage. Also surprisingly low for Brendon's 86.5.

Just wanted to update this thread as well. The car did sell at Bonhams and then ended up on Ebay for a bit, with no recorded sale. I have not searched the google for the VIN. The thing is, it needs to be driven. If not, it will need to come apart again.

I also saw what I think is Mason's old 86 with low miles sold at RM Sotheby's for $88K in March. The market is good for good examples.

Was this Mason's 86.5 5spd he painted light metallic blue with a natural aluminum hood? I knew and drove this car once. It was quick. The interior needed a full restoration. I think he put better seats in it just before he sold it to someone from out of state (PA.) It promptly blew up on the new owner, engine I believe. Do you have a link to the auction results?

I do not agree and always thought Brendan's car sold for WAY too much for what it is - that sale is an outlier and should be seen/treated as such.

On the other hand, I'm happy for Brendan that he got that kind of money for the car.
