Damn Don, I'm glad you were able to save them. I believe I remember your write-up from back in the day with the Porsche Fans email list. Glad we're not reading a sequel. Good luck with the clean up.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the kind comments. We are surviving but it is an exhausting ordeal. We were very lucky in many ways through this and are far better off than 1000's of others that still have water in their houses. This will probably go down as the worst flood in Houston's history.

The 4 wheeler and UTV were the only way in and out of the property for quite a while, but I didn't leave them in the high water longer than needed. The UTV was super useful for hauling wet carpet to the street.

We flooded Monday, and Tuesday the whole west side of the city was pretty much shut down by high water so we couldn't get anyone out and had to remove all the wet carpet ourselves. We had lots of help from some friends of our son and daughter which was a huge help. Yesterday we got a crew of 6 out from a restoration company and they ripped out 2' of sheet rock, disinfected, and setup dehumidifiers. Our well was also damaged in the flood and we got it sterilized and re-plumbed, so nice to have water again.

We still haven't heard from the insurance adjuster but when they give the ok, the kitchen cabinets are coming out. We were in bad need of a kitchen remodel after 18 years, so looking forward to that.... Shell has been good enough to give me the week off to sort all this out, but the work will go on for many weeks for sure.

All for now, off to help my son power wash the garage.

A few more pics....

Looks as though a hovercraft would not go amiss!
