Default Replacement Vanes for AC Vents - A need?

Hey all,
A few of the vanes (is that the right word?) on my AC Vents - both on the door and the console - are broken and tend to flop around a bit.

I've been doing a bit of research around getting them 3d-scanned and reproduced for replacement, but there's a bit of a cash outlay both in the scanning and the printing (I'm trying to see if I can do the scan myself, though).

If there's a demand from the community where I could recoup my original funds (still TBD), I might go ahead and do it in the hope I could break even.

So...would people need this? Feedback is welcome.

If past performance is any indicator, you will get a zillion to say it's a great idea, a bajillion to say "I'd buy one" and maybe 3 to actually put up a deposit on them.

Don't forget the only way Carl was willing to make the "no logo" cross braces was to have a minimum order with deposits paid up front. There is a reason for that.

Agree with Joe.
That is the way it will fall out.

Yep yep.

Whatever my research yields relative to reproduction cost will help steer me towards if I want to take the risk or not. If it's relatively cheap and I get some interest, I might jump in so I can repair what I have.

If I don't, maybe I just buy a used vent, take the vanes out of it, use those to replace my broken one and see if anyone might need the remaining one.

Like I said...just feeling the waters. I'm finding it be an interesting research project (I'm a bit of an IT geek) and maybe it'll benefit the broader community.

I just take good ones out of broken sets to replace a bad one. The Rear Air Vents are different as I recall. I don't think there is a shortage of them, 928 International would know.

If you are going to make them, they need to be smooth (no surface texture) like the originals as they get dirty enough being smooth IMO.

If you're interested, I have an assortment of good used vent vane sets leftover from my Spyder build. Let me know what you're looking for, I'll check my parts cabinet, and we can work out a number.
