and the price? It will be hard to sell if you don't tell anyone how much you want.

Default Brief write up

All,
Here is a brief write up of the history and background. Price is $65K

El Guapo/Zyc Car Background

The 1990 S4 Zyclamrot 928 is the supposed only 928 painted from the Porsche factory in this color making it a one of one. History has it the car was originally ordered by a Cardiologist in Kansas City. It seems those were the days when you could tell Porsche what you wanted your car color to be, even match boots or lipstick and Porsche would paint your car. So this doctor must have had a BMW or came across the color Zyclamrot Metallic as there are few BMW references with that color. It is believe he liked the color and ordered his new nice 928 to match!
History also has it that Ferry Porsche during his daily walks thru the factory saw the car, fell in love with the color and ordered a specific 928 4 door estate wagon painted this same color for him. This is not confirmed, just rumored. Also a few 944s and 964s were painted Zyclamrot.

The following is an excerpt from Marc White, forth owner of the car.

“Yes I was chasing that car since I first saw it in like 1999. So I first saw it in Wichita as my mechanic Mo Zahr had it in his shop servicing it. He is famous for his 928 expertise and people from five or six states brought their cars to him in Wichita for service. It belonged to a couple in KC that must have purchased it from the original owner. Next time I saw it they had brought it to Wichita for the 928 Owners Club International Convention in 2000. The lady actually drove it at the dragstrip and beat a Corvette as I recall! They were great and took good care of the car until they sold it. I didn't know about that until I again saw it in Mo's shop and asked him. He said it had sold to a couple in Wichita! It didn't take long for me to track them down and start bugging them to sell it to me when it was time. A couple years later it must have been time because they called me and I bought it. It was in fine shape as Mo had been doing the maintenance for many years and I had been watching it right along. After I bought it I did some things and think even gave the receipts to Dan (5th owner).
Anyway it had great maintenance when I had it of course and we took it to several car shows and it always placed well. Many people wanted that car; after all it was one of a kind and beautiful. Gorgeous. Poetry.

I had different wheels on it that looked almost right, I can send some pics... Dan (5th owner) must have spent several million krona in it with some of the descriptions of stuff he had done. He is a coconut for sure but I guess I am too...”
End quote.

Dan Hebert
Car was purchased by Dan Hebert and given the royal Greg Brown treatment at Greg’s shop for approximately 1 year. Nothing was left to chance. Extensive rebuild and refurbish by the best of the best. All of Greg’s goodies in the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension and all other systems were replaced or rebuilt. Interior work by Paul Champagnes and audio by Hans to make it look and sound perfect. Many others well known in this forum were involved in this build, Rob Edwards, Jim Corenman, Mike Simard and Roger Tyson. Thanks to you guys for helping build a perfect car.

Alan Aarnio
On a whim I decided to see what the 928s were all about by posting a thread on selling my 993 to buy a GTS. I have always loved the 928s, but really did not know much about them. Many on the forum were very forthcoming and helped me with my search.
I became the 6th owner and have never looked back. Yes I still wish I would have kept my 993 cab, but could not afford both at the time. I have only enhanced this beauty and hope I have only made it better. I decided to repaint the car since it had had some minor work done in the past and the invisible bra was heavily pocked from stone chips around the front bumper. Also some areas were wearing thru on some hard edges. Lastly I have installed a Rotrax SC Stage 1 with the help of Victor, VCB Engineering to again enhance the performance. I have all the original parts for the car and it can be returned to original very easily if someone wanted to do so. I prefer the car with the SC as it is still very reliable at Stage 1 and can easily blow the doors off many cars.
I have put maybe 4K miles since ownership and I am considering selling it due to potential forced retirement. The next caretaker will likely have one of the most beautiful 928s ever and hopefully only continue to make it better if possible.

Thanks,
Alan

Great looking car. Sure is a nice example of our beloved 928

Do you have any information about the AFR/Boost gauge? Looks better than my round pegs in the rectangular hole of the ash tray.

The boost gauge was the one offered by Victor's VCB Engineering SC. It's an option with pigtails for you to connect your sharktuner for data logging. I like the fact that is is not boy racer style and can easily be closed with top and out of view. Also looks pretty cool at night too.

This car is an exceptional car and I have lusted after it for many years. The color is amazing and as already said very rare. The previous owners heaped care and attention (plus lots of money) on this beauty just as the current owner has.
If you are in the market for an exceptional, well cared for, fully sorted and rare car - this is it - IT DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER.
Alan - GLWTS or better still keep it!!

I don't post much on Rennlist these days, but had step up and post something when I heard Alan may sell hi 928. This is one of, if not the most beautiful car I have ever worked on, and I have worked on many many cars!!! This car is amazing, meticulous, beautiful, and FAST. The engine was so clean, that when I was installing the supercharger, I just set my sandwich on the intake manifold.... Just kidding Alan... but seriously, the cars is as clean as they come. This car has all the upgrades possible, updated fuel lines, high performance radiator, tranny lines, you name it. Every on this car has always been done correctly, with no worry of expense. I cannot imaging how many dollars have been put into this car. If you were to add up all the bit & pieces, along with the time taken to do things 100% correctly, and the professional paint job, ect... Yeah I think people would have a heart attack. But one thing is for sure, because of this, the dependability factor is through the roof.

This car was pretty quick before supercharging it, but the combination of the supercharger, along with the cams, headers, exhaust, and then hours of sharktuning it all together, has made this car an absolute rocket. And then there is the sound, omg the note is sooo sweet.

I would say that anyone who buys this car cannot go wrong. With the way 928's have gone up in price lately, and knowing what has gone into this car, it's worth every penny!!

I've seen this car in person a couple times recently, including some very up close and personal inspection.

It is without a doubt one of the nicest 928's I've ever seen in my 20 years of owning and following 928's.

Alan, please post some underhood shots, for crying out loud...
