Default Throttle plate stuck 87 auto

I just replaced the bearings in the throttle body. I messed up a bearing trying to put it in so I had to use another one.
My throttle plate will no longer fit in the opening.
Is it possible that I deformed the opening so it is no longer circular?
I am at a loss as to why the throttle plate no longer fits. It came out fine.
Thanks
John

OK do you mean the plate will not pass through the shaft slot?
If so then feed the plate in from the other side. see if that works

Just tried passing it through the other side. The plate is getting hung up on the sides of the housing

It definitely doesn't fit. Is it possible I deformed the opening putting the bearings in? You would think that would take some heavy duty force!
Should I file down the edges slightly? Will that allow too much air to sneak by at idle?

Try screwing it to the plate...maybe youre assuming how deep it goes in?

Backwards?

Youre gonna want to work down the scratches in the body by now too with something.

Measure the bore, if it isn't round any longer, you need a new (different) one.

when you put the bearings in did you freeze them and use heat on the housing?
This method works well to reduce the insertion forces.
From the looks of things the bore is out of round.

Anyone know where I can get a new used one?

A quick way to tell would be to insert the throttle plate 90 degrees from the bearings and see if it is loose in that plane....

It does fit that way. When I screw up, I do nothing half-assed!

I don't know if this can be the cause of your problem, but the plate in your pics is upside down.
It should be like this.

Good luck.
