Default Mirror Connector Extractor Tool

Have an '88 S4, and need to remove the pins from the connectors in the driver's side mirror. Does anyone have a part number for a tool (e.g. Lisle) that will work? I have the Sir Tools Swiss Army-style tool but doesn't work on these.

Try Radio Shack or check online.

You have a Fry's nearby Standard tool.

Radio Shack has been gone for a couple years now.

I bought my extractor tool on Amazon for a couple bucks.

I used Lisle Tool 56500 Wire Terminal Tool Systems to install GTS mirrors on my S4.

Randy, Radio Shack may be gone in Insane Diego, California or at least your part of it, but it still exists up here in the boonies of Michigan. You, having been a Yooper should have known that or checked online for that information.

Did your S4 have the flat connectors? Cause the Radio Shack tool I bought don't work on these.

Just for future searcher's sake. My mirror connectors are as pictured in my post above and have VW/Audi symbols on them. Neither the Radio Shack nor Lisle 56500 worked on them. Perhaps the Digikey one will work, but I got sick of wasting time/money and cut the wires and soldered instead.

There's a lot to technique when using these tools. In general, there isn't anything that just goes in and releases the fingers on the pins without a little patience (or frustration...) The little ears on the pins barely fit through the housing under best conditions. So I often end up pushing the tool over the business end of the pin, pushing the pin from the back to get it deeper into the tool, and only then trying to get the pin out of the housing by pushing again with the tool against the housing, and only then trying to actually pull the pin out.

Radio Shack has been alive and kicking in many parts of USA.
There are still many stores even in Sandy Eggo, Caly Fornia.
The tool that they sell does not work on the Porsche mirrors. The tool to get is AMP 305183 which is available on Amazon and eBay. Please do a search on "AMP 305183" on Rennlist to confirm the part number before ordering.

It's the dumbest design that the mirror wiring connector doesn't fit through the door hole without removing the wires from the connector. When I did my flag to aero conversion I bought small screw together barrel connectors that had either 6 or 8 wires and soldered the mirror wiring on to those. Aside from now being able to get the mirror harness out of the door if the window happens to catch a bit of the wiring going up or down, the connector remains screwed together. It also added some length to the wiring where I could route them better through the door.
