Default Headlamp Shaft Removal

I'm stumped.

Trying to remove the headlamp shaft, which I believe first requires the removal of the swivel frames.

. . . which appears to require removal of the 2 pins highlighted below for either of the two sides.

I've seen pics in rescue/restoration threads that show these removed. It LOOKS like it should be simple, but I'm apparently not getting it.

Have tried--at various times--penetrating oil, long-nose pliers, heat, big hammer and a punch (and then a bigger hammer).

"And that, your Honor, is when I started throwing things."

Searched and reviewed FSWM and came up empty.

What is the proper way to get these removed?

Many thanks.

The bars are stout, but you'll bend the S*** out of them if you try to hammer those pins in situ. You'll have to undo the ends (the 'driving arms') of the headlamp shaft off and out of the car. They are in _really_ tight, you'll have to drive them out with a drift and a BFH, supported on a vise or something solid.

Undo the two pairs of M6 bolts that hold the driving arms to the central shaft, then loosen the two bolts that hold the elliptical 'bearing' where the shafts pass through the body, and take out the driving arms completely. Then you can work on them on the bench.

Thanks Rob.

Now realize I had completely misinterpreted how this is configured; should've looked more carefully at PET. It was there I just couldn't see it until reading your explanation.

All clear now.

Whats the best way to move the whole assembly inwards? My lights are both outwards and both sides need to be adjusted inboards.
Thanks

I use a small arbor press for the pins. Drift didn't cut it for me.

Default Headlamp Shaft Assembly

Just following up.

BTW, thanks Jim. I've not yet used a press so that didn't even enter my mind. I may have accomplished what I needed already but if I continue on with the pins I'll consider that.

Thanks
I suspect you need to loosen the #19 bolts (10mm socket) and nudge the driving arm further inward. Then re-tighten.

There appears to be a little room for the bolts that retain the driving arm to adjust in either direction.
