Default Central locking unit removal

Do I really need to remove the center console to get access to the screws at the front of the unit? The locks work perfectly fine with the key on both sides but the central locking button in the middle is completely inactive.

Don't need to remove console. 'H' plastic piece, screws, and hvac unit needs to be unscrewed. Side carpet panels have to come off. Be careful with the back of this panel. It is almost papyrus thin and some wires are directly soldered to it. Also put your MY in your signature.

Nope. Unit will come out thru front. Things need to be freed up to do so.

There are some useful pics and instructions in Dwayne's write up that may be helpful.

So it turns out someone in the past "forgot" to re connect the 4 and 6 pin connectors behind the central locking unit. After plugging them back in everything works perfectly fine. I just hop they weren't disconnected to solve a power drain issue or something of that nature. For now that job is done.
