Default 928 withdrawls

I haven't been able to drive my shark since last November. Should I buy another till I can have my 89 repaired? Or just tuff it out?

I guess that's a call you're going to have to make. What's wrong with the 89?

It runs like a raped ape. It's been at the painters for 19 months, he works on it when he feels like it. I've never let any one touch it except him, and he's worth the wait.

BTW, it's not very comfortable for distance driving. It's a beast, but fun.

If you buy another one to drive it will have to be sorted, and that's gonna cost a premium. If you have the funds I say go for it, and you can always sell it down the line. I told my wife that I bought the 928 to help hedge against inflation.

If you have a well-sorted '89, then go pick up a rough OB. Put a little money into it, drive it, have a little fun with it, and when your '89 is back up and running, sell it.

I don't need to sell any thing to buy another 928. John Curry told me the GTS is a completely different car than an S4. I like the looks of the GTS, maybe I should of grabbed the one that was stolen, and had a salvage title. Just never thought they were worth the premium price.

As you well know, my 928 isn't a spectacular example. It's a driver, and we love it. Dee's more upset about it than I am. She really loves it, and we've had a ton of fun with it, making those long trips to Texas.

There's a trans available, and if it's out of an 89 like mine, I'll buy it, and Greg Brown can rebuild mine at his leisure. That man is busy!

Joe,
You deserve a GTS, but buy that 89 transmission and put it in your car. When you get done with it, i.e. when Greg is done is yours, put the Greg Brown transmission back in your car and we'll work out a deal for the used one. (I'm going to need a transmission rebuild for my '89 also.)

John, If he trans that's for sale is indeed, outta an 89, with the same drive ratio, and limited slip, I'll buy it. Then it'll be available to you when you get Greg to rebuild yours also.

As far as a GTS, I'd like one but I won't pay stupid money for one. I'm looking to buy a 50th anniversary GT 40, from Shelby here in Vegas. It's real stupid money, but they're only building 20 of them. Registered as a brand new 1965 Ford GT 40. I think it'll look real nice parked next to the Pantera.

Joe, with the uptick in 928 prices, I think that stupid money is what it will take to get a GTS nowadays. Mark had that one the other day that Olmann bought, but for the most part, the days of the $25K GTS are gone.

Are you planning for the GT40 as an investment? or to drive? My absolute favorite childhood car, but I heard they were uncomfortable to drive, no footspace, no headroom. Hell, I guess you can't have everything, can you? I'd take one in a nanosecond.

John, it'd be both an investment, and to drive. Prolly as much as the Pantera gets driven, which is not much considering how much it's appreciated in the past 42 years.

I know as soon as they're sold out they'll start appreciating. The 427 side oiler is still available from Shelby, over 70% of the parts are interchangeable with the original Le Mans racer. Car comes with ether right hand drive like the race car or left hand. And is equipped with A/C. And the Gurney bubble.

I sat in the car, here on display in Vegas, it's frigging awesome!! Gotta get one! It's badass, so say the least!

Look I've got a trans question posted on the forum regarding the 928 auto trans that's for sale. I need to know if it'll work in our 89 cars. Don't know how to verify the part number. Any help would be appreciated!
