Default Your 928 Motorsports spring/shocks experience?

My springs and shocks are shot, ride height too low (supposed to be around 180, mine is 133mm). Roger at 928srus is showing front springs are on indefinite backorder, mechanic is looking around (one source says 4 weeks or more to get). I'd like to get my car in shape for summer drives.

Anybody here have an experience with Mark's 928 Motorsports spring shock set? If I go down this rabbit hole, I'll be replacing front and rear.

I'm looking for normal driving, I don't track the car.

Thanks!
Brian

Have you tried adjusting the front ride height ? threaded ring and collar below the lower spring perch ? Usually the cars are low because someone adjusted it to be LOW ....

Are you talking about Mark of 928Internationals springs or Carl of 928motorsports springs? You seem to have combined the two.

Get some Koni shocks from Roger and use your factory springs.

If you value the fillings in your teeth stick as close to stock as possible.
Koni's could work but the main issue is the front springs.

See if Mark at 928 International has any new old stock front springs.

Always good to remember that Porsche originally offered 16 inch wheels and 15 inch wheels BECAUSE the ride was too harsh for some on " low profile " 16s.....fast forward to 18 inch rims and you have one inch LESS air and rubber between the rim and the road.

I have 928 motorsports Hypercoil and Koni coilover kit with the 600/400 springs, stock 16 wheels and Continental standard size tires. The car handles great and feels more like a modern car. Admittedly the bumps are a bit rougher than with the stock springs, but I don't think it is bad. I will be upgrading to 18 wheels and tires in the near future and this may make the ride a bit harsh to most peoples standards, but with the 16" wheels and tires it is fine. You will notice the difference though, that is for sure.

600/400 is sort of our "go to" for most installs - a great blend of performance, balance, and still rides OK. For those that want more cush, I also offer the 500/350 spring set. They are even softer.

About the ride-height adjustment collars: The stock ride height collars have a very fine thread that is easily jammed by the smallest bit of road grit, and they only provide about 1/2" of adjustment in the front anyway. We make our own ride height adjustment collars and they are a perfect fit designed exactly for Koni's. When installed, they provide 5" of thread creating 3" of height adjustment. Way more than you need.

These pics may help explain.

Carl installed new Koni's on my '79 Spyder, but I reused the springs that were on the car when I bought it, as they were marked with the blue stripe, meaning they were sport springs, not originally offered on a '79 and must have been retrofitted at some point during it's life. I'm also running 18s and am very happy with both the stance, ride, and handling.

Default springs

Hi all

When crossing expansion joints at 75 -85 mph , a loud thud in rear occurs . Shocks are new ,springs original 1986s . Could this be worn out bump stops or springs. Around town this banging in unnoticable.

Any ideas as I am planning on attending the franzy in sept and would like to silence this rear end noise

thanks to all

jeff

Are you sure you fit all the washers on the right place after changing the shocks? The long pins are a place to look!

I had a bad rear Bilstein shock that made a thumping sound at every bump. It was mostly heard at lower speeds as the sound was drowned out by the loud road noise at higher speeds.
After installing new Bilstein rear shocks the sound disappeared.
