Default Those copper pieces in the switches...

Where can I get those copper pieces inside the seat and window switches?

From other switches?

Or try cleaning them. Some 600 grit sandpaper works nicely.

But if you dropped it while fixing the switch, I think you're looking at new switches. You are right that they all have the same guts...at least the seat and window switches I've had apart do.

I just need the internals of the switches. The window switches have a flat square piece. The seat switches have curly shaped copper pieces.

I cleaned all of the others. I dropped the flat square piece between the seat and console. I lost two of the curly copper pieces. I think they went between the door container area and the door.

Does anyone have a write-up with photos on disassembly and cleaning of the switches?

The seat switches are easy. Take the whole assembly out and bring it into your house. Then pop the switch out of the assembly. Once you have the switch in your hand, use a screw driver to take the top off. Be careful not to let the copper pieces, springs or ball loose.

Then use an eraser to remove the black carbon off of the copper. Re-assemble and put back into the car.

The window switches are different on the 84 car. If those aren't working right, it needs more than cleaning.

My windows go down with a light touch but it takes about 50 lbs. of thumb pressure to make them go up. Maybe cleaning contacts will help?

That's the same problem I was having. Unfortunately, I dropped the square copper piece to continue my trouble shooting. I don't think cleaning is the answer. You can pop the top off with a flat head screw driver easy enough. But be careful you don't loose the little copper piece like I did.

The top plastic switch cover has little plastic nubs that press down on the copper squares and on mine the little plastic nubs were worn down.
I used super glue and built up the material on these. They now work fine.

Take the switches apart inside a clear plastic bag.

That's easy for the seat switches, but the window switches have four wires underneath them. It didn't look easy to put back into place, so I opened the window switch in the console while in the car.

Wally, that's brilliant! Thank you. Another good trick in my arsenal. It would be fun to write a book on all of the mechanics and machinists tricks.
