I have tried Googling these springs, but cannot locate any information that they are discontinued. I remember years ago these were quite popular when paired with Bilsteins.

You will get a better ride if you find some Weltmeister springs...almost the same stiffness (slightly softer, but still stiffer than stock) but linear rate versus progressive which is a big positive. Problem is they are not made anymore AFAIK, but they show up every now and then for sale.

I have a Brand New set of the rears.

 

+1 on the Weltmeisters. I have those paired with a set of Konis and love them. Again, these show up from time to time. You may want to post a "Wanted" thread and see who responds. Also post over on Pelican. That is where I found my set.

 

I think more have removed Eibachs because they are just too stiff. I have Weltmeisters as well.

Since I am only replacing shocks with Boge, I elected Eibachs for a slightly stiffer setup.

 

They are only stiffer under compression. The rebound is so bouncy it got irritating after a while.

 

My 86.6 has Hypercoils with Koni's. Can't really comment since I have only driven the car down Hwy 5 before the motor went south. Full report when GB is finished.

 

I can't imagine Eibachs being worse than a Hypercoil setup that is firmer than Carl's street offering. Those are some pretty aggressive spring rates.

Keep in mind Carl's Hypercoils are available in pretty much any spring rate, and like the OEM and Weltmeisters they are linear. Carl's kit was my back-up plan if I could not find Weltmeisters after reading so many Eibach reviews.

Really not trying to change your mind if you really know what you are trying to achieve. It all comes down to personal preference. I've just had Eibach progressive springs in the past (older VW Jetta) and to me they have funky handling characteristics as they get very stiff under compression that make it difficult to match the shock - especially going with stock Boge shocks which I think would be under-damped for such a stiff spring. But again, it all comes down to personal preferences.

The good news on Eibachs will be if you start looking you should be able to find a used set pretty easily.
