Definitely noisier, but OMG the traction!!!!!
I am convinced that I must not have even begun to push this car with regard to road holding capabilities......these DWS06's stick like glue to the road for what I do, I cant imagine needing more traction.

I have these tires on my 2009 E350. They are my new favorite tire and will have a set fitted to the 928 the day the Fuzion UHPs on there go bald.

Heard DWS are getting phased out when I was looking to get them for our minivan last month.

I have the new DWS 06 on my SAAB, love them so far even in the snow for a daily driver. I have had 2 sets of DW's on my 928 but personally found the side wall to soft. I now have Potenza re-760's on the shark and love them much more than the conti's.

But both the DW and DWS are fantastic in the rain. Best rain tires I have ever used.

Very true but some are much better than others. Pirelli tires for instance are notorious for turning rock hard useless under 40 degrees. I'll never buy a set of their tires unless the vintage run of P6's goes through then I'll put a set on my 78.

Meanwhile the Michelin Pilot Sports on my 80 were fine until the temps reached the teens.
To show how good these Michelin tires are, my rears were the factory installed fronts on my friends 2001 ZO6. Upon delivery he took the wheels off, stored them in his basement until I bought the fronts (265's) in 2004 and I purchased new fronts in 928 sizes.
Their fist call of duty was two track events on my 79. These tires convinced me beyond any doubt that spending the money on top quality tires isn't just about driving at "8/10th (sorry Glen)" on the street.

I'll get at least one more season out of these before I simply toss them due to age even though they look fine and this past December proved they are still capable even in cold. Bottom line "I know better" and should replace them.

And this was with the AWD Quattro.
I learned the hard way how much worse Quattro is without the proper tires in snow. One winter I was late putting on my snow tires and drove a snow storm with the all season sports. It was the most dangerous tires I've ever driven in the white stuff. No over steer or under steer...any slight touch of the throttle while turning was a four wheel drift.

The DWS is hands down the best all-season tire in snow. It can't compete against true M&S snow tires when it gets deep, but if you only have one set of tires and get some snow they are the best all around tire available. They actually hold their own in deep snow against some performance snow tires.

I drove a set of DWS with 50k miles on them (the S was still showing) back to back with a set of new Hankook iCept evo performance snow tires in 6" of snow on 2 AWD Audis and the new snow tires didn't perform much better than the DWS.

Any all-season tire is a compromise, but the DWS is the only tire to focus on snow traction. They don't give up much dry performance in the trade off either. I used them as winter tires on my Audi for many seasons.

Jerybak,
I had no idea what this car could do until Lizard took me for a spirited drive in my own freshly boosted car with the newly installed and nicely warmed up R888's..

OMG...
