I don't think the seat inserts are factory, but they look good. I need a solution for mid to low bass in my '78, so I can understand the speakers in the door compartment.

But this is a great looking 928.

I hope it exceeds the reserve and finds a nice new home.

Different strokes.

I have four cars in my garage that blow the doors off my stock 80 5-speed (five if you count my Denali) yet it's one of my favorite cars to drive.

With stock exhaust, isn't over 200rwhp a bit optimistic with these?

Does anyone know if these seat inserts were a factory option?

Like Jim, have never seen this fabric until a fellow RL'r purchased an 80 Euro S last week. We thought it was an aftermarket material added later until we found a few examples of it in the Brian Long 928 book. Pics below.

229 - 15% driveline loss = 195 hp, pretty close to 200 no ?

By the look of it, would think it to be more a standard selection rather than optional leather or pascha ?

Those inserts are original. I have an untouched original car with the same inserts, but brown leather bolsters as shown in the Long book. Have searched high and low for a description, called the expert OBwan Jim Doerr who said "Grandma's Couch", which exactly how I had described them to my wife. Tony says "Grandmas Curtains", so shall we name them the official translation from German which is "Omas Vorhänge"?
Sounds about right.
Omas Vorhänge is the new Pascha...

I think there may be a lot of factors involved in how much you enjoy an OB. I absolutely love mine.

I love the design of all 928s, but I especially love the visual simplicity of the OBs.

I do not lust for the performance of the newer 928s. That is probably because I have never owned one. I can only compare my OB to the other cars I have owned, which include some 1967 Corvettes and a Cadillac with a Northstar engine. My OB compares very favorably to those cars as a fun sports car and as an interstate cruiser. It amazes me that any one car can beat both of those cars!

I might feel differently about this if I had ever experienced a newer and more powerful 928, but I am very happy in my ignorance. My OB has given me so many grins and memories that I don't think I will swap it out for a newer or more powerful 928. I'm happy where i am.

I was also happily married for 47 years until I became a widower, so maybe I have a thing about appreciation of and loyalty to OBs. Your mileage may vary.

They are, but I have never before seen this fabric other than in the brochure. But like James Bailey, I've only seen a few hundred 928s so far (on both sides of the Atlantic).

The 1981 Colors and Interior brochure lists it as "Uni-Stoffe", "Cloths of uniform colour", "Tissus unis", and "Stoffe tinte unite".

OK so it is an original seat fabric option....wow that car must have been made to order which in the US is very rare for a 928 !! But the original owner did keep it nice and seldom drove it means it was a very special car to him/her !!

So no, "Omas Vorhänge"? 924werke has pics of the cloth in larger swatches ,then you can see the pattern:

Glad I finally know what the material is..Tony you were right on the first guess....

When I was younger, I was purely about HP and 0-60. Now that I'm older (50, holy crap how did that happen?), I have a much greater appreciation for the machine as a whole. The OB's have a great balance of speed, comfort, lightness and toss-able handling that feels just right. I also have an '88 S4 that runs like a bat out of hell and has better brakes, larger tires, stronger motor, improved suspension, but for some reason I feel it's lost some of the balance/lightness of the early cars. Still a great machine but doesn't push my buttons like the early cars.

In the list of optional equipment, the eBay seller includes "7x16 alloys".
But aren't those the standard phone dial wheels..?

I absolutely hate that damn Jimmy Carter speedometer that only goes to 85.
How can you possibly know how fast you're going during normal highway driving?

Look's like a nice car, and if anything like UK prices at the moment , only one way for it's price to go, and that,s up !
