Time for a new head gasket?

Good luck.

Is that from the engine or did you accidentally upload a still shot from your last colonoscopy?

That's nasty....

Icky... What are we looking at? The water inlet to the water pump? If so, the whole block is likely full of that crap. Maybe stored with some non-compatible mix of coolants combined with hi-mineral tap water??

Please post pictures of the coolant passages when the heads come off...

Yes, will post more once the motor is out.

Rad had leaked out, but block was still full. Car sat in a humid garage for 10 years.

More pics of the thermostat housing and the rad return. The car sat for 10 years, at some point during that time the rad leaked out. When I drained the block the coolant looked ok, no particles in it etc.

More to come when shes free from her cage.

From what I just found with a little googling, you'll want to run hot water with citric acid through the engine. Not unless or until it runs, of course. Or is there such a thing as a "hot flushing machine"?

Just clicked on your website for the first time - looks like a promising and exciting enterprise!

If the fax drained then part of the block drained too so maybe, just maybe, the head gaskets were above the coolant line.

Looks that way, but still not ruling out doing the heads.

Oh absolutely replace the gaskets. Hopefully the heads surfaces are not too bad because they were dry.

Yes, gaskets are on order. Hopefully the heads and surfaces are ok.

Edit. I just measured the coolant that came out, only about 6L. And since I had added coolant the actual amount in the block was less. In the end doesn't make a difference but thought I would mention.

intially I thought so, but had forgotten that I had put some coolant in it. So who knows. Even still, on this car the heads should come off, I'm doing everything else.

There was likley about 4-5 litres in the block.
