January sees the 928 undergo a major operation with the fundamentals removed for the restoration to begin.

So its an S4 although not clear on if it is a non-digital dash (1987 & 88) or digital dash (89 onwards) model. So at least an 87 onwards and looking more modern than the earlier models. On this basis I would:
1. Keep the colour the same as this is a less common colour and, I feel, suits the 928 S4;
2. Keep the same colour interior;
3. Replace the existing wheels with either standard 116" or go with a nice set of CUP 1s;
4. Get rid of the aftermarket stereo and find either a Becker, Nacchemichi, or even something like a Pioneer DEH-80PRS or KENWOOD EXCELON KDC-X997
So I guess reverting back to more stock than anything else. Otherwise I would convert into something like a Gemballa, Strosek or Koenig.
Leeds is my backyard- come from a town 16 miles away and went to Uni there.
That dealership was where I saw my first 928 in the flesh back in 1978 or whenever- a Guards Red example- decided there and then I had to have one. Had to wait some 20 years before realising that aspiration but got there in the end.
Interesting to note the state of the undercarriage- doubtless a sign of the salty crap that is thrown on the English roads during winter time and sad to say all too typical of what most UK based 928's will probably look like by now. highlights to me one of the advantages I have out here where my undercarriage looks like it came out of the factory all be it with some dusty accumulations over a few greasy or oily spots here and there. I did think about steam cleaning the underside b ut why disturb the stuff the factory put there in the first place?
One would think if a factory outlet is going to restore a car they would do so to original condition not that I particularly like that colour or dislike it for that matter. A more interesting question might be why they are restoring this example? From the questions it would appear they are not doing it for a client so could it be they see a future for 928's given what we are hearing about 928 values?
I remember some intuitive words from Doc Brown not that long ago saying that the more these cars disappear from the roads the more the residual ones will increase in value- has that time come?
The motivation for doing this is as part of what's become a regular programme/competition organised by Porsche GB for dealerships to pick a vehicle to restore. Been running for at least a couple of years, and supports the renewed emphasis on having a Classic brand for parts/service/restoration. As well as acting as focus for dealer publicity, they get to take part in events organised/paid for at country level (eg at the NEC Classic show last year, Porsche had a big space showing off cars restored by at least 6 or so dealerships). OPCs have had a pretty free hand in choosing which model to restore - I've seen everything from 924 to 911 Targa

Be interesting to watch this process unfold. I wonder how they deal with NLA parts?
^^^+1 on that! Is it to far fetched to hope they will commission a limited run as opposed to a work around?? Would certainly help the greater 928 world!

In picture 13 (the picture of the instrument cluster) I see no bottom stalk on the left that would denote a digital dash.
If I recall correctly (now that I think about it) the Cassis red metallic 80D was not available (well at least as a standard colour) post MY88. So by deduction this car is either an MY87 or MY88. I am guessing MY87. The other give away is the speedometer and other instruments in the pod arei different from the MY89 on-wards compared to the MY87 & 88. So betting this is an MY87.
