Mike,

No one at the monthly DFW breakfast seemed to know anything about it or the owner.

For this usually means "RUN". As soon as you as you ask a question, "well, I'm not really sure, it's not mine."

No engine pics. Pictures from a parking lot. Tired looking wheels. Meh.

Is no one else curious about those reverse proximity sensors in the rear fascia..?

My wife's car has those (beeps when in reverse as you get near anything) and it's a pretty nice feature.

I've never seen that on a 928. I wonder what would be involved for installing such a retrofit...

Hers also has a back-up camera, but I don't really need/want anything that elaborate.

Usually meaningless on a grey market since the kilometer speedo/ odometer is switched to Miles as part of the Federalization process but on this car it appears little was done.

Mark R: You can find countless versions of those back-up sensors on ebay for $35-$100 including a led indicator showing the distance you are from an object, the wire and even the metric drill bit for the holes. As I understand, they are just hooked up to your reverse lights and when those are triggered on, so are the sensors. I am considering those myself because of the big old butt of the 928, especially now that I've removed the rear bumperetts on mine. On the other side of the coin, since my rear wing (like yours) is deleted, the visibility is a hell of a lot better when reversing. Still can't see little kids, bicycles and parking curbs when backing up though. Its a coin toss as to their value as a safety up-grade versus "originality" and I'm way past that purist point on my mods to worry about it.

I was jazzed about the car as Sean mentioned..
Would really like a Euro, but too much going on right now.
79 and GTS ARE TOO needy..😁

Eric, If you're interested, I'll go look at it for you. Looks like the car is in Richardson which is pretty close to me..
👍

Eric,
Reached out and already heard back from the guy who was "selling for his friend".

So I left my name as Chuck.
He hits me back and asks if this is Chuck Schreiber..
I started to creep out a little...
Turns out he's one of the parts Guys at boardwalk porsche here in Plano. Sold me my Carrera lll's for the GTS.
Good guess and small world.

Got the owners contact info and reached out to him.
Will let you know when I hear back.

It is not sold. In fact, it's on eBay right now.

ROW S models? '80-82 4.5L ROWs yes but not S AFAIK. They should have 928 seats and rear console.

Yep, I've seen a few '83 S models with no rear console (one local even has electric driver's seat and manual passenger seat)

Are those 928 or 911 style? I have seen several same period cars with electric drivers and manual passenger seat but all have been 928 style. No rear console in S model I know have been in connection with early sport seats. Can't really call that base model.
