Hopefully you putting on new Chain pads, I would as that plastic is old hard and brittle, also look/see how deep the groves are. ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
They do not make new pads for the S3, so you will need to upgrade to the S4 chain tensioners, Mark at 928 international and or Roger at 928srus should be able to hook you up w/ needed new & used parts.
Covers looking good !

I didn't know either , I already installed both cam covers , so it not going to get done.. I thought Jaguars were expensive to build but this Porsche sheds a whole new light on things.

Nice work so far.
PS* Take lots of pictures and document as much as you can, so people with 85's will be able to use your docs to make our lives a little easier.

Here is a great write-up on what you need to do the S4 tensioners and even a fix for the non-skirted '85 part.
The updated S4 unit is the way to go, even if the pads are not grooved they are brittle from 30 years of heat cycling. If they break, no joy will follow![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
