Default paint code and paint code differences Amazon green?

Was curious if anyone else has observed this.

My 93 964 C2 and 93 928GTS are both Amazon Green have similar paint codes but are completely different. I have seen some 964 turbos in Amazon and they look more like my GTS and yet all 968 and 964 C2/C4's I have seen look like my 964.

The only difference in the code is as shown but yet the 964 has a rather heavy metallic finish and the GTS has a very fine metallic.

Does anyone know if the code has anything to do with this or is it just one of those no two paints from that era seem to be the same?

See pics first two are the 964 second the 928. The 928 is original paint the 964 has some paint work but the area shown is original.

Both color and metallic are very different. For those of you with 928's in Amazon green can you tell how yours compare to these?

Amazon Green is a very special color.

I know that two codes were used for it, L37Z and L39A.
Also, you can spot the MS at the end of the first line of the sticker of one of you car.
Remember this is the years in which Porsche switched to water based paint, so maybe this would explain the difference.

I have the formulas for the two codes and they do differ. Both my cars are 39A and both made within a month of each other so I doubt it is water base issue or not. The GTS has a somewhat strong Pearl effect and will flip flop from almost black to blue to green the 964 is not as apparent and does not shift like the GTS but a lot of that I find has to do with the angles in the body. My cobalt turbo is not listed as pearl effect either but it clearly is and shifts to all sorts of colors from dark blue to purple and in extreme conditions almost pink.

I was wondering if the suffix in the paint code has anything to do with the difference. They are both nice colors but I would argue they were not the same if I didn't know better.

Thanks for the link.
