as fred asks, more info would be good here .
What is the year of the car ,
the end float you found,
the work that you performed during the check IE did you tighten the rear pinch bolt first then pry the flywheel to the rear of the car?
Hey Dan,
I know the sinking feeling you must have had.
I totally understand the machining marks.
That being said, it seems that there may be other tell tale marks of crank contact on a few of the webs. I have seen the non-concentric machining marks on the top half of the block on undamaged blocks. Not so much on the bottom half.
My engine does have a thrust bearing issue and it shows marks on the bottom half of the webs also.
You engine has some of those same markings, that appear to have been induced by the crank.
You may be fine. However, I echo all others to repeat the best way is to get the crank float measurement. .
