In what ways can one determine a "Low compression Euro smog version" from it's higher power counterpart? And how much difference in power is there?

By looking engine number and option codes. VIN's are mixed in normal VIN sets. Numbers are M28/45 & M298 for 5sp and M28/46 & M299 for automatic. All ROW '86 32V were with these low CR engines except Japanise cars which use US model engines. Low CR version has 4 less hp than US 32V engine. 284 in SAE net and 288 in DIN when US engine has 288 SAE and 292 DIN hp. ROW 16V is 306 SAE and 310 DIN or little more since 310 figure was given already in early '84 MY when pistons were still leftovers from '80-83 MY lower compression 10.0:1 versions instead of 10.4:1 used after they run out.

I own an 86 automatic (WPOZZZ92ZGS840212) which I would consider selling but it is a 32 valve model. It has 59000 mi. and I have owned it for 20 years. If anyone is interested and wants more info, pics etc. let me know.

Beautiful car! I'm really looking for a 16V though.

86 Euro Auto, so it's has Anti-lock and upgraded CE, just not the S4 brakes.
That 32v may have less rated HP, however it has a boatload more Torque than a 16v

edit: if you really want to sell it start a new thread w/ an asking $ amount

All ROW '86 have S4 brakes '86.5 brakes, etc. Amuricans were stuck with the leftovers.

That 32V may be lower compression, depending on where it was originally delivered.

Someone on one of the Facebook groups claimed he had an ROW '86 that did not have the updated brakes and suspension. I thought that was odd, but it's his car...

Might be a european 'Birth Year' thing. Year when registered. Or just a very early '86.

FWIW, I've only seen these two '86 ROW/USA with round jack points and factory '86.5 upgrades - https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-pictures.html

What a neat car!

Discussed here in 2012, maybe before you bought it, Tom

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-for-sale.html

Perlglantz white is a special exterior color.

I had what you are looking for

WP0ZZZ92ZGS840076

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...nted-list.html

Sold to a local a year ago for $17000.

Edit1: PS, tom-in-tempe, your air filter is installed upside down

Edit2: why is "air filter" being automatically linked to ebay? some new way to pollute the internet?

That just happened to one of my posts. I don't particularly like being part of a media campaign when I didn't choose to be.

Landseer, that's it. I purchased it in Las Vegas. The car came to US from United Arab Emirates, original owner was a Sheikh there. It still has some Porsche stickers in Arabic.
