Two Relay Questions (already searched)
1) My shark (see sig) runs fine, despite the fact that "Ignition Relay X", the second slot from the left in the first row of relays, is missing. What does this mean?
2) Am I correct that the relay clipped to the bottom of the toolbox area is the delay for my (non-operational) rear wiper? If so, which of our favorite vendors has a new one? It's a 10A ind. 12V, with a part # 928 618 104 00.
Much thanks in advance.
p.s. Road story: I lazily cruised past a poky -but noisy - Grand Prix on a long empty two-lane a couple evenings ago - then looked down and realized I was doing about 90-ish. He must've had his foot in it more than I suspected. Dang, but the speed just sneaks up on you in these cars! I put my foot into the go-pedal just enough to kick down to 3rd and then the 'Prix was long gone.

"X-Relay", which is Relay IV, no longer powers the X-bus on the '86. I have no idea why Porsche kept the "X-Relay" or "ignition relay" terminology, because as far as I can tell, it does nothing except power the fog lamp relay. The circuit is on page 97-237 in the FWSM. I assume that the missing relay means that your fog lamps don't work...
Yes, that is your wiper relay. We (or the other vendors) can certaily supply the relay - but before you order one...
Pull the harness connector from the relay, and with the ignition switch on, and the rear wiper switch activated (momentary contact, so it must be held down) make sure that you have 12 vdc on the green/black wire.
If so, replace the plug, and pull the connector from the wiper motor. With the ignition switch on and the wiper switch activated, you should get a short (perhaps two second) 12 vdc pulse on the green wire. You should have constant 12 vdc on the red wire, and constant ground on the brown wire. If there is no power on the red wire, make sure that Fuse #18 is good - you can check by blowing the horns.
