Default Odometer stopped working.... its not the gear

so back in 09 i replaced the old junk gear in my odometer with a nice new white one from Roger. fast forward to last week and she stopped working. Speedo works like a champ.

i removed the pod today (with a new green gear from roger in hand), and what should i find but the white original replacement is fine. all seems to work just fine as you turn it by hand.... the motor seems a little "notchy" if you turn the worm gear by hand.

soo...... im not sure where to go from here. how can you bench test a speedo without blowing it up? ground, power, signal.....

i can throw it all back together and hope it "works" but.... its not a hard job taking the pod out. just annoying.

The motor can be driven directly. Though you might have a failed capacitor/resistor on the board.

well, re installed, it worked for a second... then stopped. hit reset and now it works great. ill just keep my eyes open for a unit i can get rebuilt as a spare.

now the pod rubs on the steering wheel.... LOL. never ends.

I think Dwayne had a writeup that might possibly be related. I believe it has to do with too much freeplay in the odometer number stack that would cause it to jam. The fix was adding washers and rechecking the freeplay.

Most likely it's a burr on the gear you are using or a bit of debris in the motor gear after you played with it. Although we already know this because you messaged me with your success .
