We might all take vicarious pleasure from your experience, so go ahead. You're promising to save it, right? Looks like you've saved a bunch of 968s - think of a 928 as two 968s.
"Has good stuff on it" - you mean, like, tennis rackets, waffle irons, a croquet set, and other fine garage detritus?

I did, car wasn't even able to start, sat for 5 years ( this should evoke some good comments), figured worst that could happen was I part the car out and hope to reclaim my 2200...
got it home drained, changed and and prayed...runs decent, have a dribbling injector I believe, and everything except the ABS and trunk release, and rear wiper work.. but that's not even something I need...know how to fan brakes, don't keep anything in the trunk, and only use my wing mirrors...

Where in Montana are you? I used to live in Bozeman. Still have lots of friends there.

If the paint is nice I would do it. It it doesn't run and looks bad I'd run.
I bought a non-running 80 for $2000. It had a lot more issues than the owner led me to believe. I finally got it running after another $1000. At that point I was so disgusted with it I gave it to a friend and bought my 84S.

Sounds like you are winning! Good job. I'd probably shut it down now and attack tb/wp and intake jobs at this point, including fuel lines. It's all pretty straightforward.

Decide how much you like being in the used parts business, and how you will get rid of the shell. A sight-unseen non-runner exactly fits the "$10k away from being a $5k car" description. Flip side, find similar cars for sale and buy them all, and maybe you can piece together enough to have a runner. Then refer to sentence1 above.
