What do you guys do with your exhaust manifolds? Leave them rusty? Spray with something after getting the rust off? I've seen high temp paints and clear coats, but I don't know if they are high temp enough, so to speak.
Thanks,
Louis

What year are your manifolds? The early cast iron manifolds can either be media blasted or naval jellied and then coated either with VHT high temp clear or calyx manifold coating.
The later manifolds (85-95) are stainless- they respond well to bead blasting and then leaving as is, or Jet-Hot coated .

Thanks Rob.
Mine is a 1991. Haven't heard of the jet hot thing. I'll look it up. Honestly, I didn't look closely at them when I took them off, and I was thinking they were cast iron. Since they are stainless, I don't feel the need to coat them. Just need to clean them up. One less thing...

You might want to clean them carefully, then throw them in some sort of furnace to give them a uniform heat tint. We've all seen the ugly heat tint on parts contaminated with fingerprint grease, etc. That's if you are concerned about their appearance - longevity will depend much more on what happens inside the pipes.
(From general metallurgical principles; I know nothing about exhaust manifolds.)

OK. I'll be the lazy one.
Leave them rusty.
No one can see them once they're in the car. I've got other things to worry about and spend money on.

That was the first draft of my post, but then I remembered I had pictures to show.
