The Air Cooled crowd is starting to get nervous. They can't phantom that any 928 can get that type of money.
How about some comments OP/editor?

I must email all those who've contacted me wanting to be put on the list to buy my car if I ever sell/die ... and tell them its worth only a fraction of what they're prepared to pay.
Perhaps the OP lives on another planet!

Guess the OP learned a lesson but didn't want to discuss his comments.

I can't even find the 'article' (if you can call it that) anymore.
Looks like freedom of the press has spoken, via retraction (seems like the OP needs a spelling editor too).

Sadly, inaccurate articles like this do a disservice to the knowledge base of the community. And to think it was from an "Editor". Simply ridiculous.
Based on information previously posted on Rennlist, I can give you 3-4 GTSs that have sold for over $100K in the past six years. All he had to do was a little research in this forum or ask a few questions - the information is out there. A quick call to Michael Willhoit would probably yield even more. Alternatively, one could run a quick pass through the Hagerty valuation tool and get the following Price Guide Report:
This car is most likely a Category 2, currently showing a value of $59K - before adjustment for the branded title.
I would note this report does not distinguish between automatics and 5 speed versions, and this price guide is probably derived primarily from sales of automatics as they were relatively more plentiful in number. As any knowledgeable 928 enthusiast knows, the 5 speed versions such as the subject car command significantly more money than the automatics. This added premium to the price guide number would help offset the car's biggest unknown, that being the negative impact of the branded title.
Like others, I'm awaiting the OP's response to our feedback - but I won't hold my breath.
BTW - Here are some better pics of the car:

This was discussed Sat at Panos' Garage. Did anybody here mention the salvage title? The car is said to be near mint by persons who have put eyes on, but the reality is (key word for the OP to get in touch with) is that it is tainted. I hope it generates some interest somewhere, but is weird to discuss this. If a salvage title brings cash of $44.9K, that would be news.

So with a clean title, what would THAT car bring?

Okay, so a branded title cuts the value by $40k, or nearly half? Then I'd say it's a bargain. Again, nobody has ever asked what kind of titles my cars have, although they are all clean. Point being, does it matter if you aren't selling?
Sounds like the car had owner issues, not structural or mechanical.

...but searching to find accurate info takes time. AdPock appears to be a "professional" blogger who gets paid X cents a word to throw together articles for content marketing purposes. If you search on Google, you'll find more hastily written articles on other car forums.

I think it depends on what you want the car for. If you are looking to buy a driver, one that you will keep, and do not care about resale, then title issues mean less (assuming all else is equal and there are no fundamental issues with mechanics and cosmetics). If you are looking for investment grade, title is important. Although there are multi-million dollar old Ferraris and Porsches, etc, that have racing provenance, and rebuilt titles. It all depends on many factors. A GTS with title issues would be a very big discount for me as a buyer, or I would not bite.
In a recent magazine, there was a tale of the CSX Cobra which was sunk in a canal decades ago. I think it was an insurance total.
Anyways, restored, it's fine now, and worth how many hundreds of thousands of dollars? And an interesting story.
So this 928 GTS, even with branded title, and no apparent mechanical or cosmetic damages being reported, is 1/2 price. If only I could own every car in the world...

Even with almost 100k miles?
I would think that would hurt the value more than the title issues - presuming that the "salvage" is actually a "salvage-rebuilt" title and that there is no serious damage.
It's "one of 30" for the MY, and "one of 120" (or so) for 5 speed GTSs.
If I was looking for a GTS, I'd seriously consider this one, again presuming no hidden damage.
