Default How long till the new supercharged corvette engine finds it's way into a 928?

I'm sure you guys saw this and wondered to yourselves, "How long till one of these new supercharged corvette engines winds up in a 928?"

http://www.chevrolet.com/performance...gines/ls9.html

The supercharged corvette crate engines just came available direct from GM.

I've got no idea if this beast would fit in a 928 Dinsdale or 928 Motorsports transplant build. Hey, if Dinsdale can get a V12 crammed in there and make it run....then this thing should be a piece of cake!

Loving my bone stock 88 S4, but if it ever needs a transplant or if good 928 blocks get hard to find....just sayin!

What do you think? Haters...flame on!

Awesome engine, but at that price it will be unlikely to ever see in a 928. Now if mine ever grenades.... I could see a nice LS3 going in. !

That sounds like a dare so if anyone wants to place an order for that car send deposit and color choice via PM
If its LSx? it'll prol go in a 996 1st, those guys are nasty.

BTW. Watching TopGear and Clarksons 928 episode in SA is on.

my neighbor just received delivery of a new white supercharged vette, i hear him start it every morning.....yet he spends a lot more time in my garage looking at the SHARK, than I do looking at his vette.

Like I tell my boy, when a car looks this good, you cant drive fast, you want people to see you!!! lol

Well I found my contingency plan...

5.3L LM4
LS6 Heads
ZO6 Cam
ZO6 Intake
Holley Terminator EFI.

At least 430HP. Then there are magnacharger superchargers...

A 75 wet shot of N2O would do that easily

Or, you get a 6L block and put the LSA supercharger on it. Those are selling on Craigslist around her for $600 without a lid. Lids are $350. You need another $1000 of accessory drive components to finish it out. Then you have a 750hp LS for around $5000. It's a 1.9L blower, but maxes out at 750. The 2.3s on the LS9 will go past 1000hp.

The LQ9 (iron block) would be the most economically suitable for a supercharged setup. Also very strong (stronger than the LS2,LS3 block) and about 88 lbs heavier than the LS aluminum block, which still ends up being lighter than a stock 928 engine by about 60 lbs. Would most likely allow for little or no change to the front spring length, so stock springs could be used. Supercharger throttle body (I was told) would not clear the stock engine bay cross brace. Not sure if it would clear the hood.

Cheers!
Carl
