Default Tire recommendations

I need new tires...
Thinking about SC in the spring.
Would you recommend 305 in the back?
Should I just go with 295/35/18 in the rears?
Should I go with 235/35/18 or 235/40/18 in the fronts?
Also, I'd love it if you recommend tire brands as well.
Thank you in advance.

I need some 235/35/18 for the front - but having hard time finding that size now from Continental. If you are too, then 235/40/18 it will have to be.

What brand are you considering?

I'm thinking Bridgestone potenza, Michelin pilot SS, or kumho ecsta.
235/35/18 is hard to find.
I also like and had good experience with Nitto tires.

The Ecsta and Potenzas are good. I run Potenzas now as I felt they handle the rain better.
Michelin's were worthless in the rain

I have used Vredestiens for years on several different cars and LOVE them. The are very good tires at reasonable prices.

Any of you guys have specific experience with Bridgestone POTENZA S-04 POLE Position? I like the price and is doable for my 285/35/18 rears.

I had pole position before. Good tires, not great... Felt a bit heavy. If I can't figure something better I'll end up with it.

I run them on my RX8, and will probably next year on the 928.

I find them about 90% as sticky as the A050A's, and about 1/2 as noisy, which was a big thing in the RX8. They're also significantly cheaper, which makes the 10% loss in cornering performance OK to me.

They work very well in the wet I found as well.

The A050's are the standard to which I judge tires myself.

Is this test for Michelin Pilot SS or PS2?

Have been running that exact size for last year and they are great tires for the price. Handle well and are pretty quiet. Also perform pretty well in the rain. Just put similar set on my 996.
