Passenger side "rear hatch open" electrical compartment - what's in there? Odd noise.
Hi friends, this one is a two-parter for ya...
I've noticed a slight metallic click noise in or near the passenger side trunk latch compartment that I only hear when breaking to a stop. It sounds like something is moving slightly with the G forces making a slight click by touching something. Anyone have an idea of what could make that noise in there?
The second question is more educational: what's all in there? I think that is where the speaker connectors are and when I opened mine up, I had a few disconnected wires (probably due to the aftermarket stereo and speakers). Just wondering what some of the connectors are.
Thanks!

O2 counter makes the click. I think most just disconnect it. After so many miles, it lights up the dash light to tell you it's time to replace the O2 sensor.
Original Blaupunkt stereo amp should also be in there.
Your setup looks different than mine, but I have no idea what year your car is.

You should put your '89+ in your signature.
From left to right:
factory amp (missing)
diagnostic port for Bosch Hammer.
controller for electric fan
No O2 counter. The fan controller might have a relay in it that's clicking; I've never taken one apart.

Silver box is the cooling fan and flap controller, round thing is the later style diagnostic connector, you have the hatch release pull on the panel, and the remnants of the old amplifier connections: Din plug for input from the head unit, several spare 2 pin speaker connectors, and the others rewired to new speaker wires (white after-market sheath). You may have an OXY/O2 counter but I can't see it, that would be about all that would click.
