Darn it!

Forgot if Rob said to leave the windows up or down?

Not sure if that pack of coyotes, barely visable in the background, would do any damage or not...if open?

Had to get creative, since front brake pad sensor harnesses for "early model year 78's" are NLA.

Had to cut the ends off of my old sensor wires and connect them to a newer set. There are only three pictured, since I wanted to install the rear one and retain its routing intact. Not like I would ever forget or something...

Even put the yellow parts stickers back on three of them, one was missing. One still has a hand written "number change" over top of a different number. Like they say..."the devils in the detail".

The two on the left are the ones I spliced together, the portion that is shrink tubed goes behind the inner fender and nearly impossible to see.

Will install them tomorrow.

Nice work Thought Mark/Tom carried these. Not to long a go since I bought a pair for my front pads.

Mark has plenty of the rears, but the fronts are NLA for now. Weird, since they were available last December.

Maybe they are...just NLA...for me...lol.

Who knows, maybe Alex placed an order to outfit his fleet of 78's.

Darn Alex anyway...

Installed the drivers door panel the other day, new clips made all the difference in the world. Vents are still in repair mode.

Coming along...slowly, but surely.

The "rabbit hole"...

Did some welding, grinding, sanding, wire brushing, repeat forementioned several times, priming to keep things from rusting...it will be a few days before I can shoot color...humidity level is through the roof.

This pile amounts to 30 hours of hard labor.

Date code...

Muffler is from an 82, so I had to modify a front muffler bracket.

Captive nut, so no trying to get two hands in a tight spot.

My arms and fingers gave up the ghost...and the battery box went to the media-blasting shop. Should be done tomorrow. The other powdercoating place called today and said my phone dial rims are done.

Been trying to get this thing ready for Sharks in Hell...but it's not looking good.

Most times it is the small stuff or parts that will not be seen that take the most time and effort. The satisfaction is all yours though. The one exception would be body work and paint.
Was the old exhaust rusted? I thought it was all stainless.

Yes, MM...everything is very time consuming...even tinny stuff. I've spent about the same amount of time on the vents for both doors and center console. It seems like portion of the exhaust are stainless, but not sure about the front pipe, resonator, muffler or tailpipes. The portion right in front of the muffler is stainless, for sure. Old red had a Borla exhaust system, this one came off a 78 parts car I disassembled.

Complete bracket. Yes, these hanger parts would normally be cadium coated...but I just want to preserve them from further rust...and get it somewhat respectable for Hell. They will get coated correct, when the car comes complete a part.

Not sure if this hose would last another 100K, so I changed it...hope I didn't jump the gun.

my goodness Brian, I would love to see this car when done. Maybe you can bring it to the PVGP next year?

Brian; awesome work! I know about time consuming...it's crazy how it is, but when it all comes together there is no greater feeling. Congrats!

Looks great Brian. I only hope to get my '78's even close to that nice.

Thanks, guys. Appreciate the compliments...since all of you have great looking cars yourself.

Funny, just picked up the battery box from the master blaster...$25.00...said he would have blasted everything for around a hundred...I'm surprised my hands didn't punch me in the face after hearing that...probably to worn out thankfully...lol.

From there I drove over to the other master blaster powder coating guy's place and picked up my rims. Pretty spiffy...and he charged me considerably less than he quoted.

And what are you talking about Alex...that car in your avatar is looking pretty damn good. Oh yeah, bring me that black car from the lake house...I'll disassemble it for you this winter...or if you wanted it done sooner...and I'll just hold off on painting the interior of the garage. I've hit the wall on my cars, literally, my wife threw me into the wall when she found out how much I've spent on them this month...lol...so I need a break from spending...but want to stay busy learning more about the 928.

Brian.

That has kind of become my plan of attack. Get the car presentable, where as someone might say, "hey, that's a nice car". Then, after retirement and totally disassembling/reassembling the car...hopefully it will be..."hey, that's an awesome car".

Plus, I'd love to see your car in person.

So, that's kind of the plan...start taking old red to some events once she's ready. Hoped to take her to Sharks in Hell..but unless someone calls within the next week or so and offers me $1000.00...it ain't happening this year.

And to those following along...all phone lines are open at the moment.

Brian.
