Default Painting S4 type rear spoiler

The rear spoiler on my car is slowly fading. Tiny white spots are coming out as the black paint goes away. This car was a Florida car most of it's life and I expect the sun down there started it. The rear S4 type wing is some type of soft plastic or rubber.

Anyone painted one of these gems? I'd appreciate any special precautions about painting this wing. Prep, type of paint, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I have seen some people sand it smooth (get rid of all the grain) and shoot it with paint that has a flex additive mixed in.......similar to the paint that would be used on the front/rear bumpers. Having said that though, even after using this method I have seen the paint on these spoilers crack after a couple of years. Seems the material that the S4/GT spoiler is made out of really contracts and expands with temp changes. Some may have better stories, but I don't.

The best thing I can think of is to find a used one that is in much better condition........I'm sure one of the Big 3 has one, and they do even show up on Ebay now and then. Next would be to buy a GTS spoiler or a reproduction of such and paint it. It is a solid piece unlike the rubbery
S4/GT version and was made for painting........as it was from the factory on GTS's.

I believe his S4 spoiler is painted. Don't remember whether or not he did it himself, but it looks good.
