If someone offered to trade me a new belly pan for it, I'd refuse.
I also have a genuine Porsche cover but stopped using it outside because it was scratching the roof area. Now I use a cheap cover that is made from a softer material (cotton?) and haven't seen a scratch since.

Since my car was going to be outside for a bit last year in WI while Carl was working on the different projects on it, and since it's a soft-top car where the windows didn't seal all that well initially, I purchased a Coverking Autobody Armor Outdoor Cover. It's actually a cover for a 2012 Corvette because of my Convertible convversion, but is an absolutely perfect fit. For a regular 928 I'm sure the 928 model is the proper one but the shape of my car is different which is why I took some dimensions and then found a cover with those dimensions that had the same general silhouette - worked out perfect. It's nice and soft inside and waterproof on the outside. Here's a side profile so you can see the difference in shape and a couple pics from when it was parked at 928MS with the cover on it. I bought it from AutoAnything using one of their perpetial discount codes (think it was 20% or 30% off) and paid about $275 with free shipping.

It's a really nice cover and I'd recommend it.

Outdoor car covering scares me for anything other than overnight to keep the morning dew off.

If a big storm comes in, nothing is going to keep the cover from slapping in the wind which will do untold possible damage to the finish. No different than covering a car while on an open trailer.

We sell a lot of the Porsche SilverStar + covers for indoor and out door use. About $200.
Made for the 928.

WOW!!! That's expensive when the list price is only $199. Shipping would not be more then $20.

Default car cover

I've had good luck with the "Coverking XtremeWeave Custom Fit Car Cover" sold by Costco online. I have one for my truck and one for the 928 and generally get 3 years out of them in the Texas heat. The one for the 928 cost $149.99.
