I think this is the videos Craig (MainePorsche) is talking about:

Thanks to Dean Fuller for taking the time to make these.
Very appreciated.

I hired Sean Ratts during a slow period for an extra set of experienced hands. Flew him up here, put him up at the house and we had it done in 12 hours over 2 days or so. Wasn't bad at all.
Videos above are just what you need.

Thanks again guys. I've read through Dwayne's entire thread now. I missed it the first time because I didn't translate the title of the thread into "transmission removal," per se. The videos and Craig's write up are nice too.

I special ordered some moly-based anti-seize a couple years ago when I was working on my 997, so I'm good to go there. I was going to look for a floor lift transmission cradle. It's good to know the NT version works.

Question: since I already have the engine out, shouldn't it be pretty easy to remove the TT first?

Also, would I be crazy not to rebuild the TT while its out? Does everyone use the Super bearings and clamp?

Is there a bearing puller/pusher set that you recommend? I don't have any, but I've looked around and, for example, OTC seems to make some nice looking sets. None of them are going to include a rod for the TT, obviously, but there were some other bearings around the TC, etc., and I don't have a press--closest thing is a bench vise, some c-clamps, and a 2x4.

Thanks again,
Louis

Actually, dropping the TT and the transmission as one unit would be more 'straightforward' than angling the transmission off. For you, I would recommend it. Servicing the TT and Black Sea Super Bearings would be what to do (at minimum). The Super Clamp is the gold standard, though I've had great success with the simple auxiliary Pklamp. I am unable to make any recommendations on those appliances.

I think I stole Wayne's design. Works very easy. I did it in one evening (after making the required tools out of basic materials).

Thanks again MP. I guess I'll send BSRD an email for some bearings and a clamp. Might as well do it right. That's what keeps the money flowing out of my pocket.

Nice job Ad. Thanks for the pics.

My garage is so small--and crammed full of stuff (Christmas decorations, big wheels,...)--that I've tended to throw out all of the scrap stuff I used to hoard for times like this. It's sad really. The garage isn't even mine.

I did the TT job outside in the garden. Pictures where you see my car inside a sort of old building is very temporarely (old warehouse at my work). This building is planned to be demolished within a year. So I need to get the car out before that happens!
When all is done, the car has to sleep outside. No room in my garage because it is occupied by an other resto object.
