Default interior lights dont work?

driving home today at night for the first time in this 1981 928 and noticed that none of the interior lights work..(cluster/*****/center console) nothing at all.... im going to check the fuses tomorrow but i remember checking them before and they all seemed fine.. or is this a common issue with these cars with some wacky reason.... bad ground?

These bulbs are fed with Black/Blue wires which come off you dimmer switch. Two Black/Blues come off this rheostat. The rheostat (dimmer) is fed by a single Black wire for its power. They are simply attached to the rheostat by spades. Check this.

The dimmer wheels is under the dash. Use your left hand and raise it to a point above your left knee while sitting in the seat. Slide it across the border and you should feel the wheel. You'll have to get upside down on your back or spend time with a mirror to inspect the wire attachments. It's a similar wheel to your intermittent wiper speed adjustment, except it's on the left side.

You guys are ki)ing me, the inst dimmer is the dial thing underneath the POD, to make it full bright, disconnect the leads from the dimmer and connect the ends to a 5 amp spade fuse.

Great idea aboutnjust connecting them to a fuse.

I made a jumper and bypassed my switch when I did the led dash conversion.

The dimmer on these are hilarious. Has anyone looked at their 928 dash and thought, "Gee, I wish this was a little less bright?"

Yes. But only after converting all the incandescent bulbs to LEDs, and at night.

The original bulbs and reflectors get dirty and the old lamps loose brightness over time.
