Odometer, spoiler and ride height questions. Images added.
1. I tried to check the mileage and after going approx. 130 miles the trip odometer only showed 65 miles. I know they make a device that will reduce the miles by 1/2, but I thought it also reduced the speedometer by 1/2. Mine seems to be fairly accurate, maybe 5 mph high at 65.
2. Was a full front spoiler optional in 85? Mine only has a short spoiler on each side. Is it possible the car was in an accident and someone installed an older front end? Nothing seems to be missing.
3. The PS rear is 1/2 inch low when measured at the quarter panel above the tire, but both rear suspension adjustments are adjusted all of the way up. Both rear shocks are leaking and will soon be replaced. Is that the problem or is there a more serious issue?
Thanks.

1. Interesting...
2. Sounds like someone hit something and cut it off to look nice. Compare yours to a stock "S" front spoiler. Then again, maybe it's aftermarket.
3. Body-to-ground measurements are subject to inaccuracies. Depending on the type of shock they may or may not help lift the car. Check at the official measureing points if you're concerned. This could be due to a spring replacement with shorter springs. Personally, I wouldn't worry about 1/2 inch at the fender. Porsche didn't spec it that way and that's not a lot of error. If you don't like the rake, lower the front a bit.

1. Do the odo and trip odo increment identically?
2. The spoiler was standard, but Porsche would pretty much build a 928 any way that you wanted. More likely to be a non-stock unit by a previous owner.
3. The only way to check the ride height accurately is to measure at the specified machined points on the chassis. As usual, there is a lot of info on the Nichols web site at http://www.nichols.nu/tips.htm

Here is a picture of the front end.
Wally,
I think the odo and trip odo increment identically, but I'll check to be sure.
Here is the rear suspension.

Quickest thing I could find was one for sale on eBay...not the greatest picture, but if you need to buy one....

There are quite a number of parts that make up the spoiler install. IN addition to the external spoiler itself, there is a duct and vent tube on each side of the car that direct air to the brakes. Installation of the front "S" spoiler requires that the nose cone be cut on either side of the center grill to accomodate the ducts. Not for the faint of heart, but looks very nice when done!
See the workshop manual for the install details...starts on Page 66-5. From the manual, here an image that shows one half of the external spoiler (left-hand side, looking from behind) and some of the mounting hardware.

Hey Jimbo,
Check out Big Dave's website. He has a picture head on of his 85' with the spoiler.
