Default A sad day

Last Thursday was a beautiful fall day here so I decided to go for a fall drive along the escarpment. Shark was running rough, losing power so after about 10 minutes of driving and looking under the hood I decided to head for home as something just wasn't right. Lifted the hood one more time......see pic...

13 years of blood and sweat up in smoke...don't even care about the money invested, this was my toy.

Important part is that no one was hurt and I guess the car can be replaced.

That sucks, big time. I have an fire extinguisher stashed behind the passengers seat for special occasions like this.

Sorry for your loss. Glad no one was hurt.

Holy crap I am sorry to both see and hear this

Most of these tragedies are caused by old fuel lines nowadays. Thanking God you are safe. Cars can be replaced. Lives cannot.

Al,
So sorry to read about this.
Thank God nobody was injured.... every time I see the "big fire- big smoke" picture I am amazed that people are able to get away in time....

Sorry to see that, but glad that everyone is OK. Make sure that your insurance company pays what they should - values are going up, and there's one fewer of that spec - sorry!

hate to see this.... a question: of the different years, early vs late, which ones are the most vulnerable to a fuel fire like this?

I'm also sorry to see and read about your loss. I have seen enough pictures such as yours that this is always in the back of my mind. Like you it's not about the money put in just enjoyment of having a fun toy to drive.

Man, that sucks big time. My favorite white/red 88 burned right in front of me in my garage and nearly burned the house down. Worse day of my life and that is saying quite a lot. I still miss that car. However, I bought mine back from ins co for 379.00. Don't ask me how he came up with that number but I just kept after him to lower it and this is where we wound up. I then parted out what was left and purchased my 86.5 with that. I can't tell you why I was not burned as I was standing right there with gas all over me. I had just replaced fuel pump, injectors, fuel lines etc.... Still can't figure out where the leak came from but I guess it doesn't matter. Car is gone and I am still here to enjoy another.

Like I said, I feel your pain brother but don't let it get you down too much. You and your family are ok.

Very sorry for your loss. On a brighter note it gives you an opportunity to go shopping and now you know what to look for and do your own PPI.
Best wishes.
