Slippery "88 S4/GT" on ebay
Check out the "88 S4/GT" in Hudson, NH.
You see the ad, the vin indicates it is a '90 car. When queried Joe says: "I can only say this is a rocket I have a s4 in red I am the third owner I do not have any other history other than the upgrades I have made The motor is stamped M47 I believe this is the code for gt . This car is twice the red one is That is all I can say The interior is perfect no worn anything no dash cracks I did forget to say the shocks are all new The car needs nothing Thanks Joe"
Anybody up there able to take a look. I would not make the trip based on this. I asked him for option codes and jpg of door jamb vin.

I am always amazed how far people can get in life without being able to write a gramatically correct sentence, or even spell correctly.
It looks great on the pictures. But why was it repainted? Also, I can't help but wondering, if he is as clueless as he says he is. After making all those upgrades you should at least know something about the car...
Weird.
Oh, and I hope he does not expect anyone to pay close to $23.5k for a car of that age and mileage. you can state anyting on such insurance policies - I'd isure my car for $30k, because that's not even what I have into mine. But I know that I could not sell it for that price.

Nicole : I am always amazed how far people can get in life without being able to write a grammatically correct sentence, or even spell correctly.
A past associate of mine purchased a new Bell helicopter to get to his fishing lodge in winter, because he didn't like flying his plane with skies. He also scored one of the highest marks on his pilot flying test (multiple choice) when he decided he wanted to fly the plane rather then watching someone else.
He was in his fifties, had a grade 3 education, and couldn't spell worth a dam.
My parents finally kicked my brother out of their house after 11 years of university (1 science, 2 arts degrees). He is currently very unemployed, and has been for some time. He has no marketable skills, and says that if he is to get a job, he needs to go back to university. Not even his wife is buying that! He spells great!
IMHO, ones grammatical prowess is often an indication of the level of their education, but is defiantly not an indication of their intelligence, skill, drive and motivation in other areas.

grammar
Sterling: Well, I've been accused of being the grammar police before and made an error in the same post (it's spelled with an "a"). But I agree with you. The topic can be politics or Porsche, it is a red flag. This guy is playing dumb (about the car I mean ), doesn't mean it can't be a good purchase. Sam: Note another error on my first post: re vin, it's a "J" car, I think I said '90, but isn't that an '89, so it could be a GT. It just adds to the research, and mystic, got to go see.
More: I think I looked at this car in some little town 40 min north of Boston one year ago last June. It had a new paint job and big amp in the hatch. It had just sold on ebay for $14.5 (to Joe?). That owner had installed the amp and done a shoddy job running the wire under the back seat and didn't glue it down, not a hard problem to solve even if you had to get a new seat. I'm just curious enough to run the car fax. I'll let you know.

Hello Sterling,
Yes, I Agree. For me, detail is everything with owning a 928.
However, and not trying to get into a long discussion, some of the worst reputations in our little 928 world have very flashy web sites marketing/selling very questionable cars/accessories. I think ebay is great, but I take everything I buy or look at sight-unseen, buyer beware.
As a mater of fact, IMHO if you are looking for a 928 and you are informed on the product, I would think that a spit shine shop with a flashy web sight would be very adept in covering up definite problems as apposed to one who is presenting their car as is.
I don't mean to preach here. We make our own decisions based on our own past experiences. However I would NEVER buy a car on ebay with out personally inspecting it, and I would much rather buy a car from a private individual than any used car sales person.
That is just my personal opinion, and I don't mean to say it should be others.
Cheers

It could be an auto. My car is stock, but a local 928 owner offered me this aftermarket leather shift boot for automatics. Came with nifty little instructions about where to drill the holes to install it. Drill holes! I told him no thank you, but the shifter in his car (auto) looked exactly like this red one.
