I'm very interested. It's just not clear to me from this thread what the final product looks like and how much.

A light dial with really dark hands would be good - my aging eyes need the high contrast.

Just saw this thread, I'm IN again Shawn, whatever the design. Likely will get at least a watch install & spare dial. White dial sounds cool. Like the Pascha idea with a white/black pattern too. Even a negative of the last dial with a white background with black #s and 928 silhouette and the red master warning at the top would be cool.

I still want to use my 2nd dial from the 1st run for the all black Seiko 5 SNKE03 already posted here. That is a bad a$$ lookin watch!

I do have one suggestion from the 1st dial design. Can there be a bit more contrast between the one minute & five minute marks? Maybe make the five minute marks more prominent?

Shawn.....I'm in, though I question your sanity doing this again. Maybe you're happy with the silent accolades we all give you from time to time.

Love my two watches from the last run and wear them all the time. But I'm with you and would be happy with a white dial, almost a negative of the last one would be awesome.

For the next one, I'm thinking a pascha background - blown up so that only a few rows/columns are on the dial so it won't be too busy - and a tachometer dial layout.

 

Okay, RKD is busy with other projects, so we have to figure out another way to get mock ups done. Jetson has volunteered one of his people to do a few, but it's a backburner thing and it'll be a few days to get the first series of ideas out. So, if anyone has any skills, we could use the additional resource.

Based on a quick hand tally, I think we have nearly 30 dials accounted for. We need 50 to do the run. Jetson has also volunteered to buy a block if need be to get the run made. The dials are only $35 each, so a couple of dials is a tank of gas; I'm sure enough of us can bite the bullet and buy two to make it happen.

So, we need to settle on a design. Several people - including me - are requesting a light-colored dial. A couple folks are asking about a subtle Pascha background, which sounds like a cool idea.

Can someone dig up the Pascha mock up from the old thread and post it here? And if there were any other designs in the old thread that you particularly liked.

Hmm...had a thought...could do a dedicated "frenzy" watch run....and then maybe 100% markup with the overage to go to a good charity such as ...well I'll refrain from picking one by name but I'm thinking of organizations that support returning service members.

Getting 50 to opt in given Frenzy attendance would require a pretty high participation rate!
Maybe one of the experts could place a 928 dial in a special watch /band, and it could be auctioned?

I dunno, Frenzy is a great event as is and I don't mean to imply otherwise or to complicate the proceedings. Sure would be nice to leverage the participation and comraderie for a good cause as well.

Or, have a small set of watches, one to each regional gathering of note to introduce some competition....Frenzy...Third Coast...Sharktober...Hell...

Here was a proposed Pascha design from before. I'd prefer white & black, which might just look like a racing flag. Not sure if that is good or bad, but it would be a car theme to go with the other 928 & Porsche items on the dial. Maybe a dual theme for the background with a general car/racing meaning for most and an additional special meaning for 928ers.
