Running 295's on the rear with Carrera III's

I have a chance to get a set of 18" Carrera III's, rear wheel size is 11" et 51. The best size tire to go on these is a 295/30-18. Does anyone else have this setup, and if so any rolling required or rubbing? Andrew's calculator shows they fit on the outside and rub by 0.1 mm on the inside.

Ted,
Surprised at that conclusion. I would expect those wheels to struggle on the outside and be OK on the inside given they are ET51 and I know that ET60 worked well on my late S4. 11 inch is probably more than optimal width wise for a 295 but should still work OK.

Do not get 295/30 tires. They look funny. Go with a 295/35. The proportions are much better.
As for rubbing, well it depends. It depends on why year car. On an 89 or 90, it should be perfect. 91+ has the full wheel liner which causes rubbing on the inside. 87-88 don't have a folded wheel arch lip, so it rubs on the outside. But a lot also has to do with the tire manufacturer. If the tire has a lip to protect from curbing, then that sticks out a put more.
Bottom line, it'll be tight, but I think you can may it work.

I've got these wheels with Michelin PS2 295/35's. Test fit on my 90 GT (at factory ride height) - drivers side cleared by a 1-2mm's, would need light fender rolling for safe clearance. Passenger side rubbed indicating fender slightly narrower/pushed in/very subtle shape difference by approx 2mm, would require rolling.
On my GTS they fit with the correct spacer - approx 15-17mm IIRC.
As noted by Andrew, tire width will vary by manufacturer.
With regards to 30 vs 35 profile, I'm going to get a set of used 30 profile tires and test fit for both handling and looks, I can then decide which size to purchase new. The advantage of 30 profile is a better (closer to stock) rolling radius.

You need to pay attention to tire section widths.
Not the useless numbers stamped on the sidewall of the tire. They mean very little.
One vendors 295 may fit while another's 285 will not

I ran that combo with Hankook 295's. Fender needed minor rolling. Still got minor rub under heavy suspension compression ( loaded rear area or dip in road, etc).
The clearance is tight enough that your camber settings will make a difference.
Dropped back to 275's
