Default Recommended width of rear wheel spacers for '78

Does anyone know the recommended width for rear spacers for a US '78 model?

What wheels/offset are you looking to mount?

Thanks guys. I am looking for bolt on hub centric spacers to mount my stock 16" phone dials on. 28 mm =1.1 inches while Jadz's 35mm = 1.38 inches. I'm thinking 1.38 inches my be too much. Any thoughts, opinions are welcome.

Opinion: Get some S4 rear wheels. Those are 8" wide with less offset and fill the wheel wells nicely. It's getting hard to find the 245/45/16 tires for those but you can run 225/50/16 all around with no issue. The stock studs are fine for the wheels.

Any spacer near what you're looking at (over about 10mm) will require a spacer with its own studs and not just a disk with holes. Check the threads that show past the wheel. A rule-of-thumb is that you need as much thread engagement as diameter of the stud. The stud is 12mm so you need 12mm plus a bit of thread showing.

I have a 79 ROW with standard 16 inch phone dials. I had some 1.5 inch spacers imported from the US.
This is what it looks like now. Before and after.

After

Thanks. Do the tires in the after photo stick out beyond the rear bottom of the fender wells a little? The angle of the after photo is different than the before so I can't really see tire to fender well relationship.

I have a pair of 32mm or 35mm spacers left over from my 80 Euro. If interested, I'll sell them to you just to clear some shelf space. Just like the ones pictured in post #3.

EDIT - Sold

Thanks again gents for the data and photos. I,ve done some measuring and I'm leaning towards 1 inch=25.4 mm, bolt on hub centrics. Much wider and I am concerned about fender rash from the tires throwing grit and grime. If anyone has some used ones around that size I am interested.
