Default Oil cooler.

Does an 83 US 928 have an oil cooler?

I can't find the lines on my car, if it's suppost to have an oil cooler. Which leads me to suspect someone removed it, or there isn't suppost to be one.

Thanks.

V- I think it does.

Look at the drivers side radiator tank. Do you have two large metal fittings coming out of the plastic tank? If you have what looks like 3/4 inch metal tubes going into your radiator, then you have an oil cooler.

I hate that f*cking thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me you've not noticed "coffee-with-cream" oil....

[this means water in the oil- a bad thing]

No, I havn't.

I've been messind around with the a/c, and it well, there seems to be oil comeing from somewhere. I was thinking, well maybe it's that oil cooler line. Lets see if I can find it and see if it's leaking. The problem? I couldnt' find it. I couldn't belive the 928 didn't have such an important item, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks for the diriction.

Red fluid under the front drivers side?

Perhaps the famous power steering reservoir leak-

Listen. When I used to fly Piper Seminoles with students, I was amazed at the amount of oil that the 6.0 liter 4 cylinder engines would blow overboard and coat the bottom of the nacelles and the wing. What I learned from chatting with our mechanics over lunch was that a small amout of oil can create an amazing mess. I have several small leaks- from my steering rack/ motor mount/ a few other items experiences, I can tell you that these cars leak fluids. If you cannot pinpoint it...then just add more fluid and ignore it!

Viribus- B safe PLEASE!

I'm always safe, even when I'm not!

No, oil is on the pasangers side. I just lost all my refergerent too, on my newly converted system, which is realy annoying. The compresser is covered in oil, as is at least one line to it. I'm thinking leaky connecter. I snuged it down again with a cressent wrench, shot some oil, and refergerent in it, and am giveing it another shot. The connecter wasn't lose par say, but it wasn't overly tight eighter. We shall see.

I was thinking it might be motor oil, deffently not ATF, already been there, done that.

Thanks.

Well, ac leaks can be weird. I was in Connie Kalittas shop this week, between a dragster and a Ford panel van when my instructor pulled his blazer into the shop. I helped him and one of Connie's mechanics change out an ac hose- the fluid they added had a green colored additive so you could detect leaks. He didn't have the fitting down tight....
...
Griffiths.com has a good writeup about A/C leaks....

Right side of the engine huh.....sure sounds like an accesory leak. The AC pump is over there. Whats up with leaks on the drivers side?

There are no leaks on the drivers side, not since I changed out the distributer seal.

I know it's some sort of oil. The odd thing is I added a can of that red dye to the system when I initialy recharged it, the oil is not dye that redish orange. I'm guessing if it's a/c oil, then it's being masked by some dirt. The smog pump is pretty much not hooked up, and the bearings are not wineing, so I'm fairly sure it's not that. As far as I can tell I'm not losieng any motor oil, and the bracket is not broke, nore does the case seem to be cracked.

So I'm at a loss as to where the oil is comeing from.
