Hi All
Please excuse the 2nd "Help Wanted" post today..
1991 S4
The dash/instrument gauges etc are all in excellent condition, but within the last year, one area of to the far right side of instrument cluster has begun to "exfoliate" if you will. It appears to be some thin plastic film overlay- pic attached.
Is there any good cosmetic fix or at least a way to keep this from worsening?
Thanks!

Wow- I'd kind of assumed others might have at least seen this one before.
Obviously its not causing any dysfunction but man is it becoming an eyesore in an otherwise pretty pristine dash/interior.

There is a Dutch company that repairs the cluster film (prints a new one). Don't remember the thread but search should find it. Most likely due to the heat from the incandescent bulbs. Suggest going with LEDs, they run much cooler.
Cheers!

I saw it on a "low mile" GTS a couple years ago but am pretty sure the cluster was out of an earlier car. Several here have seen this on the 90/91 cars.

Like others, I have never seen that condition before in my 20+ years associated with the 928.
Let us know if you come up with a solution.

To the OP, you're not alone--happened to me too. See this thread: Post #13 refs a Dutch company.

On the Info-Instrument webpage, you might have to right mouse-click on the page and hit the "translate with bing". I'm not sure how the page will appear in the US.

You know, sometimes there are more than one answer and definitely more than one opinion, but it never ceases to amaze me what a great resource it is.
Anyway, who knew- delamination of the cluster has been a known issue of the 928 but seems to be peculiar to the years 90 and 91 (and mine is a 91' as well).
I am the second owner and as far as I know there is nothing I can think of that would have led to undue heat exposure in the dash since I have owned it- but who knows.
Anyway, I'll look into the costs presently and see how it shakes out. If I decide to go as far as having it re-done, I might at least attempt a satisfactory repair first since my issue does not appear as extensive as some of those pictured in the thread provided. I'll keep the list posted in case the outcome can be of use to others down the road,
Thanks to all-
